CGS Weekly Message
10/31-11/4
Good afternoon,
Happy Sunday!
We had a busy week on campus this week!
Parents, on Friday, our CGS students participated in our first lock-down drill for the 22-23 school year. This one was somewhat announced for our teachers and students this week but the next one will not be. We practice our lock down drills at least 2-3 times a school year. This drill is intended for our students and staff to practice an emergency situation such as an active shooter emergency in which we would need to lock down our campus. I am very proud of all of our students and staff on campus and how quickly and effectively they completed the drill. Parents, just a reminder- if you're in our building during a lock down drill, please be sure to lock the doors to any room that you're in and get out of sight if you hear us go into a lock down drill. Your safety is a priority to us as well. As a reminder, any and all visitors on campus during our school day must sign in at the front office. No exceptions. Thank you for helping us keep our school safe!
What a FUN Friday night we had on campus. THANK YOU to all of you that attended our Trunk or Treat event! It was so much fun to see everyone. The kids and the staff really enjoyed this community opportunity. Thank you to all of you that stayed in line for hours waiting to come through the line. #CGSisbetterthanBEST! See some photos below shared by one of our families.

Feedback Form FAQ 22-23
“Feedback Form” Submissions from week of 10/17:
I haven't received any emails or notifications this year . Do you know when they will fix this?
- This situation has been resolved! Please email Mrs. Vereyken or Mrs. Nina directly and we can make sure things are accurate with your notification preferences. Thank you!
Can you please consider disseminating information through either mass email or the school website? Not all parents participate in social media. There have been many times when pertinent information was only posted on Facebook. As a parent I am diligently checking the website and emails but I continue to miss important events and notifications that are announced via Facebook. It leaves parents that are not on social media to depend on other parents to relay that information. It seems fine to post on social media as a secondary method of communication but not as the sole or primary method of communication. Thank you for your consideration!
- Thank you for this feedback! If you don't mind, please email Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Vereyken directly with some examples of information that wasn't communicated via email that was shared via social media so we can have some examples of pertinent information that was missed. Thank you!
I know field trips have resumed this year, will each grade level be taking a field trip or is it teacher discretion?
- Yes, all grade levels are able to resume field trips this year. Yes, you are correct. This year, field trips are at teacher discretion and are not required.

Nurse Updates:
Hello CGS Families,
The time of year is here that we begin seeing an increase in respiratory illnesses. We are doing our part to clean and disinfect daily to help keep the germs down. Please remember to speak with your children regarding preventative actions to stop the spread of germs.
Please remember to contact me if your student is ill or has a respiratory virus just to help keep the school "in the know". Please contact Mrs. Lassiter in the front office as well if your student is going to be absent. A note from home is required to excuse any absences.
Thanks,
Nurse Corbett
