A Message from the Principal
Chapman families,
Our school year is coming to a close and summer is almost here! First, I would like to thank all of our families for sharing your child/children with our Chapman School Community! It has been a year full of growth for our students! We have watched students blossom, gaining academic skills, growing socially and emotionally, new friendships and new interests! Students have persevered through tough moments, growing as individuals and building their resilience! We appreciate all of your support as families. Educating the whole child takes a village and we have a pretty amazing village in our Chapman Community! Thank you! We wish all of our families a fun and safe summer!

A Tech Department member will contact you within two business days to assist. 2023/2024 Planning: Student Withdrawals
If your student is not returning to Strongsville City Schools next year, please return their Chromebook and any outstanding library materials on their last day. Any items not returned will be billed.
Plan Ahead for 2023-2024
If you can help us get the word out to families moving to Strongsville or enrolling students in SCS that it is best to do this as soon as possible, we would greatly appreciate it. Over the past few years, we have seen a pattern of people waiting until the week or two prior to the first day of school to enroll. Waiting until August to enroll may delay a student’s ability to start on time, have busing ready and attend their home elementary school. CLICK HERE to learn more and start the enrollment process. Once we have all the necessary registration paperwork submitted, SCS will finalize the registration process within 48 hours. For students that do not enroll until August, that extends to a 72 hour turnaround due to volume. Again, by registering children in June and July, we can ensure every child is ready to have a successful first day and school year.
Bus Opt Out for 2023-2024
In an effort to increase the efficient use of our available resources, we are requesting that all SCS families that are eligible for transportation services, yet do not plan to use busing services to fill out a form to opt out. Please note that all eligible students can still receive busing services, but knowing which students will not be riding a bus will help us in creating the most efficient routes prior to the upcoming school year. If you do not plan to have your child ride the school bus next year, CLICK HERE to opt out by June 16, 2023. Please submit a separate response for each student you are opting out in your family. Should your transportation needs change after you submit your response, just reach out to the Transportation Department and we will adjust accordingly.
ROAR Parent Survey
My name is Elle Hovanic and I am currently a freshman at Strongsville High School. I am starting to work on my Gold Award project for Girl Scouts. This award focuses on creating positive change in your community. Meghan Medlock, a counselor at Kinsner, is working with me.
My project is called ROAR (Reaching Out At Recess). The objective is to make recess more inclusive and accepting for all students. I am hoping to introduce repurposed old benches as buddy benches to the schools that do not have them, new board games, and also introducing new black top games. Below is a survey for families to complete with their children regarding games they would like to do at indoor recess. By the end of this project, I need to have some "measurable data".
Thank you so much for your help.

Summer Learning Ideas!
According to Scholastic, students lose nearly "20% of their school-year gains in reading" and elementary-aged students are the most at risk because they are at a pivotal point in their reading development. However, there are easy things you can do over the summer to help keep your child's skills sharp and decrease the likelihood of a "summer slide!"
- Have your child read what they want/read to your child/choose a chapter book to read as a family
- Make time for play, including puzzles, building, open ended tasks.
- Get out of the house. (You could visit the library, zoo, park, etc.)
- Promote imagination use by your child.
- Encourage your child to complete Lexia Summer Reading Bingo Boards:
