Principal's Message
Principal's Message
Dear Mata family,
I hope this message finds you well. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who attended the recent Parent-Teacher Conferences. Your involvement and commitment to your child's education are deeply appreciated. If you were unable to attend the conference, please know it’s not too late. We encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher to schedule a meeting at your convenience.
Also, we would like to share a special reminder for parents of our 5th and 6th graders: don’t forget about our virtual session tonight, it is designed to give you valuable insights into our middle school program. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the next stage of your child’s educational journey.
We're also excited to announce that Black History Month begins this week. Our school has planned various activities and learning experiences to celebrate and honor the rich history and contributions of Black Americans.
Finally, let's not forget, this Friday marks the 100th day of school! It's a significant milestone, and we have some fun and educational activities lined up to commemorate this special day.
Thank you for your ongoing support and participation in our school community. Here's to another week of learning and growth!
Warm regards,
Tomeka Middleton-Williams, Principal

The Lion King Elementary Performance Information
Parents and Guardians,
Our show is fast approaching! In case you have missed prior correspondence, all our lower elementary students have been preparing for a musical production of the Lion King. The performance dates and times will be as follows:
Monday March 25th at 2:15 pm: Mr. Blea
Tuesday March 26th at 12:10 pm: Ms. Vasquez and Ms. Ochoa
Tuesday March 26th at 2:15 pm: Ms. Stout
Wendesday March 27th at 12:10 pm: Ms. Gonzalez and Ms. Singleton
Wednesday March 27th at 2:15 pm: Ms. O’Dell
Thursday March 28th at 12:20 pm: Ms. Flores and Ms. Sussy
Thursday March 28th at 2:15 pm: Ms. Mankse
Please be advised that parking alone the dismissal path for the later show will not be available. Please plan accordingly to walk from neighboring streets.
All students will need to wear a plain black tshirt and either jeans or khaki pants if possible. We have a small collection of tshirts in varying sizes if your students needs to borrow. Please send them to school in the black shirt and pants on the day of their performance.
The show is supposed to be 30 minutes long. However, we suspect it will be closer to 45 minutes.
Lastly, please continue to support your student in practicing their lines. Not only do they need to be able to say it without looking, they need to know when to say it. A great strategy is to “read” the scene with them. You say the line before theirs and then they reply with their line of text.
If you have any questions or concerns, email Ms. Bailey at mlouis@dallasisd.org
We look forward to sharing this with you!
Thank you, Ms. Bailey (Theatre), Mr. Gibbs (music), Ms. Harris (music)
