On-Campus Job!
The Coordinator of Student Supports for Leadership & Career Studies (L&CS) is a project of the Institute on Disabilities department within the College of Education, and we offer an authentic, fully inclusive college experience to young adults between the ages of 18-26 who identify as an individual with an intellectual disability and/or are on the autism spectrum.
L&CS employs matriculated Temple students in part-time, compensated positions (including work study) under the title of ‘Coach’. Your role as a Coach would involve working as part of a team to cooperatively guide the students you’re partnered with as they make their individualized adjustments to the social and academic realms of college life at Temple. This support includes assisting students with navigating campus, participating in events and/or activities on and off campus, and identifying services and resources on campus and demonstrating how to take advantage of them. You could also be tasked with attending class alongside a student, and providing academic support such as taking/comparing notes, studying/preparing for exams, and completing written assignments.
Coaches traditionally work around ten (10) hours a week fulfilling these commitments and responsibilities, all of which are structured around one’s course and extra-curricular schedule(s). If you recognize and celebrate the value of diversity, multicultural collaboration, and inclusive education on Temple’s campus then you embody the progressive caliber of an individual that we would want as a member of our accomplished team.
Apply here! Email Jack Badger (jack.badger@temple.edu) with any questions.
