Ashbrook Elementary School News
End of the 2021-2022 School Year!
Friday, June 17, 2022
As we close out the year, I want to personally thank all of our wonderful students for the warm welcome they gave to me as your interim principal this second half of the year. I have absolutely loved my time here at Ashbrook and have felt right at home. This hasn't been a "normal" year but we have worked together to make the best of every situation and it has been fabulous to welcome parents back into the building!
This summer, you will have time to take a break, hopefully slow down a bit, and enjoy some simple pleasures. I want to encourage all children and parents to read as much as you can this summer. Read to your children, read with your children and read in front of them. This is such a positive way to instill a love of reading.
Have a wonderful and happy summer and make beautiful memories.

Juneteenth- June 19th
Juneteenth takes place annually on June 19 to commemorate the day in 1865 when federal orders read in Galveston, Texas, stated that all previously enslaved people in Texas were free. This was an important day in history and for the fight to end American slavery, and it is honored across the country with cookouts, parades, heartfelt reunions, and so much more.
Here is a short video from PBS Kids that explains Juneteenth to young learners.
