The Tohickon Golden Eagle
June 2022
Dear Tohickon Families,
The 2021-2022 is coming to an end! The school year is set to conclude for students on Friday, June 10. In the next week and a half, we have a number of events/activities planned to be aware of. They include the Freshman Bash/Dance, Freshman Day, 7/8 Grade Field Days, ninth grade laptop collection day and our closing ceremonies for grade 9.
The Freshman Bash/Dance is schedule for Friday, June 3. The dance will begin at 7:00 PM and conclude at 9:30 PM. This event is now more than just a dance, as there are games/activities and extensive refreshments. The ninth-grade team has done a great job in designing this event in order to provide students with a lot of options. If you have any questions about this Freshman event, please contact one of the ninth grade team leaders (Alison Lewis at alewis@cbsd.org or Mike Weir at mweir@cbsd.org ).
On Monday, June 6, ninth grade students will be traveling to Camp America for Freshman Day. This event is a tradition at Tohickon. Camp America provides multiple events and options for students. Students can choose to swim, engage in sports, recreational activities and/or just relax. This has always been a nice way to celebrate three great years at Tohickon Middle School.
Seventh and eighth grade students will have an opportunity to celebrate their year at Tohickon on Wednesday, June 8. On this day, seventh grade students will be participating in a field day, with multiple events/activities on school grounds. The eighth-grade students will begin their day on a short field trip to the bowling alley, followed by a field day at Tohickon when they return. These events will be nice opportunities for students to enjoy each other’s company and reflect upon the school year.
All ninth-grade students will be expected to turn in their laptop computers (w/accessories) on Wednesday, June 8. There will be an email sent to all ninth-grade parents later this week that will outline the details involved with the collection process. The high schools will be providing new laptops to all rising sophomores. Information on the distribution process for these laptops will be sent out by the high schools at some point over the summer months.
The last day of school is June 10. Students will have an early dismissal at 10:45 AM. During the morning hours we will be holding our closing ceremony presentation for grade nine. During this ceremony, various recognitions and awards will be given to students. Parents of award winners have received notification and will be invited to the event. This is a very special event and a great opportunity for our teachers to wish our students well as they move on to their respective high schools.
In closing, I want to thank all of our parents and families for their continued support. The Tohickon Community is very special and the support you provide is an essential component in helping us provide the best education possible for our students and your children. As we move into the summer months, I wish all of our parents/families well and hope you are able to enjoy time with family and friends. If you have any questions over the summer months, we will be here. You can contact the main office at 267-893-3300. Best wishes for a great summer!!!
Sincerely,
Kevin Marton
Tohickon Principal

TOHICKON LOVES OUR PARENT COUNCIL!
We would like to thank everyone that contributed items for our week of teacher appreciation. Lunch, breakfast and snack days were something that we all enjoyed. Mrs. Bauer and Mrs. Figus as our Parent Council representatives have taken the lead in organizing all of these great events throughout the year and for the past six years. This is their last year at Tohickon and they will be missed more than you can imagine! We can't thank you enough for everything you have done to support our staff and students.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM THE NURSE’S OFFICE
It’s hard to believe the end of the school year is upon us! Remember to use sunscreen as some teachers take advantage of the nice weather to go outside. Seasonal allergies have been really bad this year and the health office does not have allergy medication, so please administer before school.
Action Care Plans for the upcoming school year will be sent home shortly. These are for children with chronic medical conditions so if you receive an action plan, please have it completed and returned prior to the start of the new school year. If your child is moving on to high school, please forward them to the appropriate school and to the Attention of the School Nurse. ALL medication requires a Medication Dispensing Form completed and signed by YOU and YOUR physician.
Information for Incoming 7th Graders
All 7th graders are required to have a Tdap and meningitis vaccination PRIOR to the first day of school on August 29, 2022. There will be a 5-day grace period before your child will be excluded if they are non-compliant.
Also, all 7th graders are required to have a Pennsylvania state mandated dental exam. Please forward the completed dental exam form to the nurse’s office. The exam may be any date after September 1, 2021.
You may check the parent portal to see if your child is missing any of the required immunizations. Please feel free to reach out with any concerns you may have or want to discuss prior to the start of the new school year.
Any required paperwork may be sent via email to the school nurse, Sheila Kelly shkelly@cbsd.org
Congratulations to our 9th Graders! We wish you well as you begin your high school journey 😊
Hoping you have a Happy, Healthy and Safe Summer!
Sincerely, The Tohickon Health Office Staff
Tohickon Garden Renovation
The Tohickon garden has been a source of nutritious organic produce that supplements our Family and Consumer Science Department curriculum and supplies food that has been prepared and donated to local food pantries within Bucks County. The garden also serves as a focal point for the Tohickon Garden and the Farm to Fork clubs, where students experience a connectedness with nature and other people as they work, learn, and have fun.
On May 24th, the Tohickon garden began undergoing a renovation to replace the wood boxes with stone. Student council approved funds to revitalize the garden and students from MBIT’s horticulture and landscape program began the installation. Some of the students who worked on the Tohickon garden renovation are CB students. The new planter boxes look beautiful and Tohickon students expressed their gratitude with words of thanks and treats. The project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2022.
Four Tohickon students (photo above) took first place at this year’s regional level of the Bucks County Media and Design Competition (MADCom) and were invited and adjudicated at the state competition at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA on May 24, 2022. The projects included Isak E. (programming), Lillian I., and Prithvi K. (logo design), and Emelia W. (animation). Emelia’s animation project won 3rd place at the state competition. Congratulations to all four students!
