The Cub Hub
Notes from the Den | Volume 1 : Issue 28 - March 8, 2021

Principal's Message
Happy Monday Bear Creek Cubs,
We will try and make this a quick Cub Hub but please take some time to read the few items here.
We had 320 students in-person today which represents our highest total yet and we rank third in the district for highest percentage of in-person students.
Spring Break is next week!
Please let us know if you need anything or have any questions.

Commitment Forms And Registration
As we prepare for the 2021 -2022 school year we need two tasks completed, both of which are required by the district.
1 – AISD registration. Currently we only have about 60% of students registered. Our staffing is based on this and we need to have 100% by the end of the week if at all possible. Please go to this link for detailed information.
THIS % IS HOW WE GET STAFFED SO IT IS IMPERATIVE TO GET THIS DONE. THANK YOU!
2 – Bear Creek Commitment Form
We as a campus is also required to gain commitment from family for intent regarding the 2021-2022 school year. Please complete this form prior to the end of the week.

If you think you have done the task but you are not sure I can check.

Two Quick Notes
1 - This is for walkers only. Please do not drive your car and park and get into the line for walkers.
2 - We can not release students to anyone besides listed caregivers without explicit (per event) permission. This is an foundational piece of our safety plan. This is an area that if a mistake was made it could be potentially devastating to our community.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that so many of us are close and can safely walk our neighbors home but we at a minimum need to have prior knowledge of the transportation changes. You need to email the teacher and myself or Ms. Pitts.
What To Do If You Child Is Not Feeling Well
If your child is ill with symptoms consistent (cough, sore throat, stomach issues, headaches, fatigue, congestion, etc ...) with Covid-19 contact Mr. Crissey and your child's teacher and then the following protocols must be followed:
Students May Return After
10 days have passed since symptoms started, and improvement in overall symptoms, and 24 hours have passed without fever and use of fever-reducing medication.
OR
Provide doctor’s note to campus health room staff stating that symptoms are not COVID-19-related and student can return to school.
OR
Provide a negative COVID-19 test.
As an FYI the same holds true for staff members.
Counselor's Corner
Hello Bear Creek Families.
This year has been challenging on so many levels. One huge adjustment has been trying to navigate the online learning for our students. Whether you have been remote all year or go remote as needed, we have all had to accommodate the virtual classroom at some point.
With patience and grace, you flow into the role of virtual classroom facilitator to ensure your student(s) are getting all they need. I have been so impressed with how strong this community is to be able to pivot and adjust quickly.
Even with all of our diligent work in creating the best learning environment, all the changes and constant zooming can become too much. Our kids stop looking like our kids!
That is when Zoom Fatigue and Zoom Burnout are taking over.
Symptoms Include:
-Lack of motivation
-Headaches
-Drowsiness
-Depression
-Anxiety
-High level of Stress: which manifests as behavior change in our young people.
Including not completing work, losing interest in school, and having outbursts.
Students online are using more energy trying to follow social cues, body language, catch up with lag while also trying to feel a part of something from a distance. All this, everyday, all day is exhausting.
So what do we do??
-Sleep is essential. Making sure students get to bed on time is key.
-Continue a routine in the morning like getting dressed, breakfast, etc before they log on can make them feel more a part of class and checked in.
-Exercise! Offer brain breaks away from the screen to be active and maybe get outside.
-Spend Quality time with them. Your relationship is KEY!
-Reach out to your teacher and me, your counselor, for ideas and tips.
