Principal's Message

Hello parents,

Attached is some important information to keep you informed as we close out our FALL semester. We are continuing to stay laser focused on our 3 main goals: academic excellence, social & emotional growth, and maximizing potential for ALL students by promoting our Diamondback Pride.

With that said, we appreciate your support the next 3 weeks in ensuring your students come prepared and ready for school, engaging with our staff in their learning, as well as joining our many clubs and organizations. We continue to strive for excellence and are having outstanding seasons in all areas– UIL Academics, Athletics, Fine Arts, as well as all clubs and organizations.

I’m proud to announce that, with the leadership of Mr. Gandaria and Mrs. McIver, our student council students were able to donate over 3,000 canned foods to the Mission Food Pantry.

Our Character traits for the month of December are responsibility and empathy. Teachers and staff are incorporating guidance lessons bi-weekly on these traits.

December is a great month to appreciate all of our blessings as well as share with others. We encourage you to support your child by reinforcing these values in any way you see fit. Specifically, we will be having a Toy Drive through our ELA departments from December 8th- 16th again to be kind to others. These items will be donated to the Vannie Cook Children’s Hospital.

Thank you for your continued love and support!

Goooo, Diamondbacks!!!!!!

Counselor's Corner

Greetings from the Sharyland North Junior High Counseling department!

Our department has several important activities prepared for this month. Our 8th grade students are currently taking a career inventory through our Virtual Job Shadow program through their history classes. This program is exposing our students to begin their career exploration and career path with follow-up activities in the spring semester.

Our Character traits for the month of December are responsibility and empathy.

We will be visiting the classrooms to address diversity, acceptance and tolerance via guidance lessons. Our teachers are supporting our counseling department by incorporating guidance lessons bi-weekly on these traits. In addition, we have asked staff to incorporate these traits in their daily lessons. We would like to encourage you to discuss how characteristics of caring impact personal relationships.

May you and your family have a blessed holiday season.

Janie Reyna, 7th grade counselor
