STUDENT DELIVERIES - Please remind your student to have all belongings needed for the school day before leaving home. The Front Desk cannot accept personal belongings for students.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS FROM THE ATTENDANCE DESK
When students check-in they will take a picture of their doctor or parent excuse with their phones, and email it to hhsattendance@hoover.k12.al.us. Attendance secretaries will print the excuses and give the student a check-in slip. We have experienced longer wait times with this process. If you or your student will send the excuse to the attendance email prior to arrival, it would help expedite the check-in.
Remember, a parent excuse should include the following information:
Student Full Name
Grade
Dates & reason of absence(s)
Handwritten Parent Signature
All checkouts are done in between classes unless a prearranged checkout has been done in advance. A student may not be checked out over the phone, by email or fax, or by anyone not on his/her check out list. Check-ins may be done at any time, but do require a parent to sign OR a parent note/doctor excuse. (Remember, if you are able to email these ahead of time, it will help to speed the process.)
ANTICIPATED ABSENCE FORMS - If it is necessary for your student to be gone from school they must complete an Anticipated Absence Form and turn it in within 3 days of the absence. Forms are also available in the school lobby. There is a section on the form to be completed and signed by the parent, then the student fills in his schedule and obtains the signatures of his teachers, and submits it to the grade level administrator for final approval. Approval is based on the student's grade averages and current attendance record. Please note: if the student only plans to be gone for part of a day, he or she needs to enter the time of checkout, and get the signatures of only the teachers whose classes they will miss. Also, there is no need to obtain signatures from virtual teachers, (although they should be notified by email of the absence). Please be aware that failure to complete this form and turn it in will result in loss of credit for work missed and made up.
STUDENT DROP OFF AND PICK UP - Student Drop Off and Pick Up is located in the front of the school. No other locations are allowed on campus or in nearby neighborhoods. Students being dropped off/picked up in locations that are not permissible will be assigned discipline.
Please remember to access the carpool drop off and pick up in front of the school using Learning Lane off of Stadium Trace Parkway. Do not use the access road from the Hoover Met. This is for student drivers that park in C & D lots.
DRESS CODE GUIDELINES - Hoover City Schools Dress Code
NO OUTSIDE FOOD ALLOWED ON CAMPUS - As a reminder, students are not allowed to bring food into school from restaurants. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.
BUS INFORMATION - Visit our Transportation webpage to see our Web Query in which you can input your home address. When you enter your home address, your current bus stop information will be displayed. *If the results do not show a bus stop for your home address or if the assigned bus stop is more than 2/10 of a mile from your home address, select and fill out a “TRANSPORTATION REQUEST” form so that a bus stop can be created for your student
