Ms. C.'s First Grade Class

September 25- September 29

This Week:

In Reading students read a story titled, "The Storm". They were able to identify the characters in the text and retell the story. Students were able to relate to the text in what we call, text to self connection. They drew pictures of a storm they saw or remembered. We also read an informational text titled, "Storms!" and were able to identify the facts and information in the tex. In LA/Writing, students learned about possessive nouns (boy's, girl's, the teacher's). They were able to create possessive nouns and identify them in text. We learned how to stretch words and continued to add labels to our illustrations.

In Math, students became familiar with adding numbers to ten. Adding zero, switching the addends, and finding all the ways to make a number.

In Social Studies, we learned about rules at home and at school. Rules in the community known as laws. Students had the opportunity to make a list of rules they want to follow.
