DVRHS Media Center Update

9/21/2020

Welcome back!

It was great seeing so many of you in the hallways during the first few weeks of school! As we begin to navigate through this new school year, the Media Center wants to ensure that our resources are accessible to our staff, in-person students, as well as our remote students. Therefore, we are running on a "full remote" model, which means that all of our services are currently being provided virtually. From book checkout and requests to research instruction, all facets of the Media Center are and will be accessible 100% online, 24/7. See below for more info!

Find and place holds on books using Destiny Discover or Book Request Form

Destiny Discover is our online catalog that enables you to search and place holds on print books in our collection. Search by title, author, or topic, or browse the collections by scrolling and clicking on "See All". You can also request titles you see in Destiny Discover through our Book Request Form if you don't feel comfortable placing a hold in Destiny Discover. Make sure to search in Destiny Discover before filling out the Book Request Form to check that the title is available.

Requested books that are available will be delivered to your English classroom book bin within 24 hours if you are an on-campus student. Remote students can also place requests through Destiny Discover and books will be placed in the Remote Student Book Bin outside the Main Office. You will receive an email confirmation once your hold has been delivered.

For the links to Destiny Discover, directions on how to place a hold in Destiny Discover, and the Book Request Form, see below.

Want access to ebooks and audiobooks? Check out the Sora app

The Media Center also provides access to virtual titles through Sora, our ebook and audiobook platform. All students and staff have access to the Sora app on their iPads. Sora can also be accessed via web browser from this link. Ebooks and audiobooks have a 28-day loan period, and titles can be returned early or renewed as long as there are no holds from other patrons.

Book returns from 2019-2020 school year

We are still collecting Media Center books as well as other subject textbooks from the 2019-2020 school year. If you have not already done so, please return all books you had from last school year to the big black quarantote outside D-113 (Ms. Knapp's room). If you are unsure if you owe any Media Center books, please email Mrs. Miceli at librarian@dvrhs.k12.nj.us.

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month

Library Card Sign-Up Month is held every September to coordinate with the beginning of the school year. Although students and staff automatically have Media Center privileges just by being a member of the DVRHS community, it is also important to have access to your local county library, whether it be a local branch or the county headquarters. You can pre-register for a county library card here and print out a copy of the application here. Complete instructions on the application process can be accessed here.
