Chocolate Pudding Club
We will be starting a club for students who may be struggling with parents that are separated or who have gone through a divorce. It will be called the “Chocolate Pudding Club” based on the popular book, ‘Was It the Chocolate Pudding?’ The story talks of divorce in a typical family from the point of view of a young narrator.
We will be following the Children of Divorce Intervention Program, it is prevention based program specifically designed to help children cope with challenging family changes.
Goals of the program:
- Minimize the emotional and behavioral problems that may result when children experience divorce in their families
- Increase children’s ability to identify and appropriately express their divorce-related feelings
- Increase children’s understanding and acceptance of divorce-related concepts
- Reduce children’s anxiety and worry about their family circumstances that can interfere with academic achievement
- Build confidence by teaching specific skills to help children cope with a variety of challenges
- Contact your child's teacher or Mr. Ernst if you are interested in having your children in this program. Thank you.
