PV Families,
It has been another great week of learning here at PV! Our staff and students continue to build strong social/emotional connections and skills as we set the foundation for the year of learning. We work on forming strong connections through our community circles in all classrooms that begin each day with a focus on how we can grow in the areas of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, or responsible decision-making. As we build connections with students throughout the school day, we also are beginning to get into our core academic areas in classrooms across the school. It is great to see our students engaging on high levels both for our in-person and virtual learning environments!
As we head into next week, we have one more safety drill to complete this month. I would ask that you please read this letter about our first fire drill. This letter will impact our virtual classrooms as well as our in person students. When we have a fire drill, the virtual teachers will need to leave the building. This is a good time for families participating in virtual learning to consider what fire drills can look like at home.
As we continue to figure out how new protocols and practices work both for our in-person and virtual students, we see different challenges and opportunities to grow. It is amazing to see how we “fit together” the talents and skills of our students, staff, and parents to form a greater picture of learning!
Have a great week!
Mr. Jamie Foeckler, PhD
Principal
MASK INFORMATION
ATTENDANCE FORM & NEW PROCESS FOR ALL ATTENDANCE NEEDS!
It is essential to note that attendance is now reported using THIS FORM. The attendance form is also located as a button on the main school webpage and under the “Parents Information” section. This form will require you to enter your child’s six-digit student ID number and birthdate before you can report your child absent. Student specific medical information collected by the form will remain confidential and only be shared within the health and nursing services team. This form was designed to help us rapidly assess possible cases of COVID-19 so that we can mitigate the spread of the virus. After completing the form, you may receive a follow-up phone call or email from one of our health and nursing services staff with either follow-up questions or additional information.
This attendance form should be used to report ANY attendance need for any date(s)!
FPS CONTINUES TO USE STOPIT APP FOR INCIDENT REPORTS
Over the course of these first two weeks of school, all students are participating in a presentation about how to utilize the “StopIt” app. The motto with using the StopIt app is “if you see something, say something.” We utilized this app last year to collect reports from students for various reasons (bullying, unusual behavior, concern for other students) and we will continue to use it this year. Below is a 2-minute video that explains StopIt:
The apps for StopIt can be found here for iPhone and here for Android. Since use of the StopIt app requires a password, we have designed a graphic for our building that will be placed at the bottom of every newsletter in case you or your student needs it. Thank you to all parents and students for following the motto of “if you see something, say something.”
