HALO HIGHLIGHT - In Memory of Deacon Glenn Viau
Dear Saints Parents,
St. Louis Catholic High School will be closed on Monday, Dec. 3, so our school community may attend the funeral Mass for Deacon Glenn Viau, our former principal and an instrumental leader and contributor to our school. For those who haven't heard, here are the funeral arrangements:
Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 2, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church from 4-6 p.m. A Sunday Mass in the presence of the body will begin at 6 p.m., followed by a Scripture Service at 7 p.m. and a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue until 9 p.m. On Monday, Dec. 3, visitation will be at Our Lady of Good Counsel from 8-9:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church at 10 a.m.
Please note: On Tuesday-Thursday of next week, we will run 8-period days to account for the missed class time. In addition, students will have a late start on Friday, Dec. 7 (to allow for a faculty meeting). Students need to report by 8:49 a.m. Friday's periods are as follows: Academic Support, Mass, Marion Procession, Lunch, Faculty/Student Volleyball Games.
We humbly ask that you continue to keep Deacon Viau and his family in your thoughts and prayers. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.
God Bless,
Andrew R. Bradley
Principal
Remembering Deacon Viau: Holley Fontenot
"We’d like to believe that St. Louis has a new ambassador popping into all the classrooms of Heaven - a man who represents our community as a teacher, Campus Minister, Principal, mentor, Spiritual Director, and friend of Jesus. Deacon Viau (or as he was better known, Glenn) was a model of compassion and positivity for everyone he encountered. He was a natural Teacher; even after he left the classroom, he was keen to offer his practical advice accompanied by his favorite operas and show tunes. With the unpredictability of grandchildren at his feet, students at his lecture, and coworkers at his desk, Deacon Viau’s calm and clear vision offered healing to all. His advice was an invitation and opportunity to discern what he saw before you and what you had yet to uncover.
Praise him, cheer him, onward ever; gathered now we pray...and sing...and take a bow."
-Holley Fontenot, St. Louis Catholic English Teacher

Studio Art Class Touches Lives Through Memory Project
Mrs. Stephanie Robertson's Studio Art II class again participated in the Memory Project, a nonprofit organization that invites art students to cultivate global kindness by creating portraits for children around the world who have faced substantial challenges such as violence, war, extreme poverty or neglect. This year instead of painting child refugees in Syria, Saints students were gifted with the task of painting a very special group of children in Colombia.
Our students received 32 photos of 3-5 year-old children who live in urban slum areas and attend feeding centers for meals. Most don't have a single photo of their childhood, so the portraits your students created for them will be invaluable gifts that provide lifelong memories.
Mrs. Robertson has worked with more than 50 students on the Memory Project so far, helping build feelings of international friendship and solidarity. We will share more footage with you when the portraits are delivered to Colombia.
Tech Talk with Melanie Lejeune
Next week is Computer Science in Education Week, and we will be celebrating by inviting students to eat lunch in the library each day during lunch so they can view a live broadcast (sponsored by code.org and Skype in the Classroom). These sessions include Q&A with professionals who use code to create amazing things.
Students will hear from professionals who work in dance, fashion and artificial intelligence for companies like Kindle, Pixar and Minecraft. Computer Science and coding are not just for people who work in IT. Computer Science principles teach problem solving, critical thinking, design process, collaboration, communication and creativity. Check out this super short video about the Hour of Code.
