Fourth grade students got their inspiration from Gustav Klimt's Tree of Life painting. They first drew a tree with swirled branches. Then they painted it with black, silver and gold paint. Lastly, they colored the background with oil pastel.

By next Monday, all of our students and staff will have had the opportunity to sign the Project Vinátta “Resolution of Respect” and we will be proudly hanging our banner in our main hallway. As a reminder, here is copy of what we have resolved to accomplish:
Resolution of Respect
· I promise to do my best to treat everyone fairly.
· I promise to do my best to be kind to everyone - even if they are not like me.
· If I see someone being hurt or bullied I will report it to an adult.
· Everyone should be able to feel safe and happy at school.
· I want our school to be No Place for Hate®.
So, what does it mean to resolve?
Motivational speaker, Anthony Robbins said “I believe life is constantly testing us for our level of commitment, and life's greatest rewards are reserved for those who demonstrate a never-ending commitment to act until they achieve. This level of resolve can move mountains, but it must be constant and consistent. As simplistic as this may sound, it is still the common denominator separating those who live their dreams from those who live in regret.” That is our hope for our students, that we can live these words and help our campus be a safe and happy place for all. Signing a banner is easy, living the promise is our challenge. We hope you and your family join our mission to make our schools and our community a better place!
The “Hey Dude, Nice Shoes” parent presentation this week was entertaining, motivational, and very informative! One suggestion really stood out for me. Carolyn Jennings Brown, the presenter, recommended that families spend time together discussing family rules about how you, as a family, agree to handle bullying. Families should agree on a specific definition of what “bullying” is and how each member of the family should handle a situation that could be bullying, whether a family member is directly involved or not. Family rules should also address basic rules about how we treat and respect others every day, in all situations. Cyberbullying should also be addressed in the “Book of Family Rules”. What a great way to lay a foundation for our outstanding young people!
Stay tuned for more exciting news from LVIS Project Vinátta!
