Science
Students have been studying ALL 6 steps of the Scientific Method this week. Students used the "STICKY" app to create a VISUAL on their iPad over this concept (see picture). Students also recorded the vocabulary down in their science journals. There will be a quiz on Tuesday, Sept. 15th over these concepts. We will then move on to performing 2 labs in class next week using the 6 steps to the Scientific Method to reinforce concepts. Students will record these labs in the science journals. We will test the week of Sept. 21 to Sept. 25.
FYI: students can always take a practice quiz on Blackboard and use the other resources to study in the "Scientific Method" folder on Bb.
5th Grade Level Math (Block B)
Students took the Chapter 2 Test on Friday, Sept. 11th. Scores will be updated on SKYWARD over the weekend. Grades could shift significantly because this test will be counted as a SUMMATIVE grade (90% of one's overall grade).
Next week we will be taking a Daily Word Problem Summative Quiz on Thursday. ALL of the Daily Word Problems we have done this year are on Blackboard in a folder. We do one each day, show work on the board, and discuss as needed. The quiz will be exactly the same types of problems. FYI
We will move on to Chapter 3 (Multiplication of Whole Numbers) next week.
The nightly homework for students is to practice their math facts by using the 2 math apps you see in the pictures!!
Adv Math 6th Grade (Block A)
This week we focused on place value of whole numbers and decimals as it relates to rounding. As the week progressed we moved on to decimal computation (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing). There is a practice quiz on Blackboard for students to take for practice as needed. There will be a test over this on Friday, Sept. 18th so studyguides will likely come home/be done in-class on Wednesday. Grades could significantly shift due to the test being counted as a SUMMATIVE grade (90% of one's overall score).
Also, next week we will be taking a Daily Word Problem Summative Quiz on Thursday. ALL of the Daily Word Problems we have done this year are on Blackboard in a folder. We do one each day, show work on the board, and discuss as needed. The quiz will be exactly the same types of problems. FYI
The nightly homework for students is to practice their math facts by using the 2 math apps you see in the pictures!!
