The Road to Independence

My View on the Revolution
I believe that if I would live in Colonial times I would be a patriot. I would be a patriot because I believe we should only pay taxes that we have a say in. Britain only makes laws that benefit themselves not the colonies. And they have taken our god given right to rule.
The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act is the one of the most influential incidents in the road to independence. The Stamp Act was a tax brought on by Parliament imposed onto the colonist. The tax was for increasing the revenue to pay off the debt from the French Indian war. The tax as on all paper products form legal documents to playing cards. This got a negative reaction though. Some wrote letters while others rioted and attacked tax collators homes. Parliament was forced to repealed the act.
The Quartering Act
After the Stamp Act was repealed the Quartering Act was passed. It required everyone to help pay for the British Troops by suppling them with supplies and money. This caused tempers to flare on both sides.
Intolerable Acts
The intolerable acts were made in response to the Boston Tea Party. These acts included closing the harbor until the tea was payed for. Colonist could not have town meetings with out the governors consent. Instead of controlling the Colonist it pushed them over the edge.
