Welcome Back, Pirates!

We are excited to welcome our Pirates back into our school as we kick off the 2020-2021 school year! We have missed our students terribly and can't wait to meet our new Pirates, too!

As we kick off the new year, we want our families to know that our teachers and staff members are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of your children, both physically and emotionally. We know that our students do best with routine, structure, and as much "normal" as we can safely provide them. Our goal is to maintain a warm, welcoming environment for our Pirates that closely resembles the campus they know and love from years before. With additional safety and sanitization measures in place, our students will continue to be deeply loved each and every day!

This year, Lubbock-Cooper ISD is utilizing a space theme for our staff with the motto of "Launching the Next Generation!" We will also be using this theme on our campus with lots of fun connections for our students. You'll see this woven throughout the fun we have at East Elementry all year long!

Thank you for the blessing of serving your family. We know that you are entrusting us with your greatest treasure and we do not take this responsibility lightly. It is an honor to love and grow your Pirates as we partner with you!

It is a GREAT day to be a Lubbock-Cooper Pirate!

LCISD Reopening Guidelines

In light of the COVID-19 public health crisis, LCISD has worked to develop a safe, efficient, and responsible plan for the 2020-21 school year, which will begin on Wednesday, August 19. It is important that we accommodate the social, emotional, and health needs of our students and their families while simultaneously providing the high-quality education our students deserve. The document attached below is a summary of the plan LCISD will follow to educate students while mitigating COVID-19 spread in schools based on the requirements and recommendations outlined by the Texas Education Agency.

Additionally, you will find an infographic for the LCISD Health Expectations for your review below.

East Elementary Learning Commitment Form

Lubbock-Cooper ISD is excited to welcome students back on August 19, whether they join us for traditional learning or virtual learning. On July 22, parents and guardians received information on both learning formats. The virtual instruction option is being provided for our families who have health and safety concerns surrounding sending their students back to school.

LCISD parents and guardians are asked to select the return to school option that will best serve their child(ren). Every family must complete this form for every student in LCISD.

The Learning Format Commitment Form for 2020-21 must be completed as soon as possible, so we can finalize planning how to utilize our staff to meet our learners’ needs. Once the commitment is made, students will be expected to remain in that same learning format for the first progress report period (three weeks), followed by opportunities to shift formats at the turn of each nine-week grading period.

If you have not already done so, please complete the East Elementary Learning Commitment Form at your earliest convenience using the link below:

Thank you for assisting in our campus in effectively planning for the instruction of your children by completing the East Elementary Learning Commitment Form.

Student Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

With the completion of Boston Avenue, we are expanding our arrival and dismissal locations! This newly-completed roadway will allow for increase efficiency as you drop-off and pick-up your Pirates! A detailed letter and map will be provided for your reference in the days to come.

As in the past, our building will open for student drop-off at 7:15 AM each morning. Student dismissal will again be at 3:20 PM each afternoon.

Additionally, please note that the LCISD Reopening Guidelines specify that parents will not be allowed in the building during arrival or dismissal for the 2020-2021 school year. Parents of PK and Kindergarten students will, however, be allowed to escort their children to their classrooms for the first three days of school (August 19-21).

Parents of incoming pre-k and kindergarten students may walk their students into school buildings from 8:05-8:15 a.m. during the first week of school only (Wednesday, August 19-Friday, August 21). Parents who do not wish to utilize this opportunity may drop their pre-k and kindergarten students off during normal arrival time.

August 17 - Open House

We are excited to announce plans for our annual Open House! While this year will look a little different, we are ready to welcome our families back to campus as we prepare for a wonderful new school year.

In order to allow for social distancing, we are inviting families to join us at the time specified for your last name. Please see the information below for your family's designated time. Blended families with multiple last names can chose the time that works best for your family.

This schedule will provide a greater opportunity for families to maintain safe social distancing practices and will also allow our teachers to have an opportunity to visit with our students and families in a more intimate setting.

Students and family members over the age of 10 are asked to wear a face covering during Open House to help keep our Pirate students and staff members safe and healthy.

Student Supply Lists

Below, you will find the 2020-2021 East Elementary school supply list!

Virtual Learners should ensure that they have access to basic learning supplies in order to make Pirates Learn@Home 2.0 a success. Teachers will provide more information for their virtual students and families as school begins.

Teacher Placements

In order to be responsive to student needs, preferred instructional arrangements, and increased enrollment, teacher placement announcements are temporarily delayed.

Placements for all LCISD elementary campuses will go "live" in Skyward on Friday, August 14th at 4:00 PM for families who have completed the annual online verification process. Please remember that all families must provide a new "proof of residency" this year. If you have any questions about the online verification process, please reach out to our friendly office staff Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM at 806-776-2109.

We so greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to ensure that our staff is most effectively poised to meet the needs of all of our learners!

iPad Distribution for Virtual Learners

Last spring, we had the opportunity to flex our technology skills as we introduced Pirates Learn@Home during the COVID-19 school closure. While we are continuing to refine our practices, we fully understand the value of having individual learning devices in the hands of our students!

This fall, all LCISD students will have access to their iPad devices on the first day of instruction! To do so, we will facilitate iPad distribution for all virtual learners on August 17th and 18th. Families who have opted into virtual learning for the first 3 weeks of school will need to pick up instructional materials and iPad devices for their students between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM on either Monday, August 17, or on Tuesday, August 18.

East Elementary will be distributing materials for our virtual learners in the lane just to the south of the school between the building and the playground. We ask that parents enter from the east and exit to the west of the school. Please see the map provided below for additional information.

All students attending class face-to-face will receive their devices on August 19, our first day of instruction. Students who are attending class face-to-face will not be taking their devices home at this time.
