What to expect when expecting

your baby and you

First Trimester

Mom: During the first trimester which is the first three months of your pregnancy your body starts developing changes. For example the first 7-9 weeks you will start to see an increase in breast size during that period. Your hormones are also starting to develop during the first trimester and vomiting and nausea start around this time also. By the end of your first trimester your risk of miscarriage is now much lower. Your morning sickness and fatigue will have started to subside by now and there may even be an increase in your sex drive around this time. By the end of your first trimester you should be eating up to 300 calories a day.

Baby: At about the first 7-9 weeks your baby has started to develop webbed fingers and toes inside the womb. Your baby's eyelids almost cover his eyes and his breathing tubes will have extended the throat to branches of their lungs. By the end of the first trimester your baby has developed finger prints and their veins and organs which are visible though their very thin head. The baby at this point is 3 inches long. About the size of a peapodand weighs about an ounce.

Second Trimester

Mom: 20 weeks is now your half way mark in your pregnancy. The top of your uterus is about level with your belly button and you've likely gained about at least 10 pounds. Expect to gain at least a pound a week from this point on your hair is actually growing more too. The extra hair is much more difficult this time around but its still okay to exercise unless said otherwise by your doctor.

Baby: At 20 weeks of your pregnancy your baby weighs about 10.5 ounces now and is about 10 inches from head to toe, your baby's legs are curled up to his torso around this time so measurement is hard to be taken because of your 2nd trimester your baby weighs around 1.5 pounds and is starting to get their long lean look for baby fat. They're also starting to grow some hair.

Third Trimester

Mom: At this time at the beginning of your last trimester your still gaining about a pound a week. At this point you should also be visiting your doctor every two weeks. By the end of your third trimester your going to start seeing your doctor once a week and they should be checking to see how your cervix is opening up for the baby.

Baby: By the beginning of your third trimester your baby weighs about 2.5 pounds. Your baby can blink its eyes and has also grown eye lashes. Your baby should be gaining more baby fat and growing neurons in their brain . At about 39 weeks and ready to enter the world. They're still growing body fat to control body temp. after birth they should weigh in around 7 pounds
