Supporting the 7 Habits at home!
7-Habits Take Home Activity for April
This month’s Habit: Habit 5 Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Activity: Eyes, Ears, Heart Activity
Due Date: March 31, 2021
Habit #5 - Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
What this means: Listen before you talk. In order to communicate effectively, we must first understand each other.
“I listen to other people’s ideas and feelings.”
“I try to see things from their viewpoints.”
“I listen to others without interrupting.”
“I am confident in voicing my ideas.”
“I look people in the eyes when talking.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Listen.
2. Put yourself in the other person’s place.
3. Notice a person’s body language, tone, and reflection in their voice.
Great Books for Habit #5-Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Alejandro’s Gift by Richard E. Albert
The Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown
Stellaluna by Janell Cannon
Jamaica’s Find by Juanita Havill
The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka

Free Drive-Thru COVID Testing at NHS on Sunday, 4/4/2021
I encourage all families, especially those that traveled or visited outside their regular close contact ‘bubble’ over spring break, to participate in the FREE Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing on Sunday, April 4, 2021, 11 am - 6 pm at Northville High School Pre-registration is encouraged, but not required.
This drive-thru testing event is open to all Northville residents as well as the general public and will take place on Sunday, April 4, 2021, from 11 am to 6 pm at Northville High School. Please consider participating in COVID testing prior to returning to school the week of April 5th. We know that actions such as this taken by our school and local community members will help limit the spread of the coronavirus as we return to school after spring break.

Please Remember to Use the COVID-19 Student Screener EACH DAY When We Resume Classes after Spring Break
As you prepare to send students back to in-person learning after spring break, please remember to use the COVID-19 Student Screener EACH DAY before your child comes to school. REMINDER: If you travel internationally, please follow the quarantine and testing requirements found in Question 3 on this screener.
If you traveled domestically or otherwise visited friends and family outside of your regular close contact ‘bubble’ over spring break, please consider participating in the FREE Drive-Thru COVID Testing at NHS on 4/4/2021 or test at a convenient location for you. NPS is dedicated to providing in-person learning and would like your help in ensuring that we have a safe space for our students to learn and grow.

3-19-21 Covid - 19 Updates
CLOSE CONTACT QUARANTINE UPDATE
As you may be aware, the Wayne County Health Department has adjusted the quarantine requirements for students identified as being a close contact to a positive COVID-19 case to 10 days (from the previous requirements of 14). Parents should continue to monitor their child for symptoms and not send them to school where symptoms are present. Additionally, if your child has had COVID-19 in the past 5 months (evidenced by a positive PCR), quarantine is not required. We began following these new requirements immediately and notified all families where an identified close contact quarantine could be shortened under these new rules.
**REMINDER** INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
The Wayne County Health Department, as indicated on the COVID-19 Daily STUDENT Symptom Screening Tool (2.16.2021), requires that students stay home to quarantine for 7 days from the date they return to the U.S. No earlier than the 7th day of return, a student must have a COVID-10 PCR test and have a negative result before returning to school.
SCREENING FORM UPDATED
Please remember to use the Wayne County Health Department COVID-19 Daily STUDENT Symptom Screening Tool (2.16.2021) each morning to determine if your child can come to school. If your child is a close contact to a positive case, please plan on a 10 day quarantine as the 14 day quarantine will only be required in circumstances where symptoms are present or as required by the health dept or your child's medical care provider.
