In search of neighborhood reps for HMES Advisory Board

As we restructure our Advisory Board to get representation from our entire community, we are actively looking for representatives from the following subdivisions:

Villages of Piedmont

West Market

Heathcote Commons

Parks at Piedmont

Mercury/Sheldon area

Advisory Council meetings are once a month (usually the first Tuesday) from 6:30pm-7:30pm. Childcare is available for school-aged students through our awesome AlphaBEST staff members. The committee will be meeting only 4 more times this year and will be discussing things like budget, staffing, school programs, future focuses, and more. The main purpose is to advise school personnel and ask questions so we can be transparent about the many layers of supporting each and every student in our school. If you are interested, please email me at baldwisl@pwcs.edu

National School Counseling Week (February 4-8)

National School Counseling Week 2019 (#NSCW19) is Feb. 4–8, 2019. The week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), highlights the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and the tremendous impact they can have in helping students achieve school success, both academically and socially, as well as plan for a career. Take a moment to thank our awesome school counselors, Mrs. Vaneman and Mrs. Schenck, some time this week.

Parent Leaders Needed!

We are currently seeking a variety of parent leaders to fill some very important roles at HMES. Parent engagement is EXTREMELY important to the success of each individual student. If you are interested in more information about the following opportunities, please email me at baldwisl@pwcs.edu so I can share responsibilities, time-commitment (limited!) and more:

Advisory Council Chair - Lead a group of parents from the community and work closely with myself to ensure we are going in the right direction as a whole community.

PTO President - Work closely with the rest of the board to help facilitate the completion of the rest of the events for the remaining of the school year.
