Mrs. Codding's Class
Distance Learning Week 4
Parents, Great job!! I know working from home AND doing school with your kiddos is not easy! You rock!!
Ideas for Writing
*Encourage them to write what they hear. Say the word slowly for them if they get stuck. We have been working on this skill all year and they are really good at it! They will not hear or write all of the words correctly, but if they are writing all of the sounds they hear in the words, they are on the right track! Spelling will come later (like 1st grade or so!)
*Encourage them to put finger spaces between the words. Remind them their goal is for other people to read what they write as well as they can read what they write. Spaces will help the reader figure out where one word ends and the new word begins!
*If their writing is all over the page, encourage them to use the lines on the paper as a guide. If the lines are too small (note book paper sometimes is when we first start writing), I will take a yellow marker or highlighter and draw lines across the page to give them guidance. This will help them visually organize their paper and make it easier for them to read and write.
I miss teaching them writing so much! It is one of my favorite things we do during the day. This is the time of year where they grow so much, so fast! Thank you so much for all you are doing at home to help!
