SAS Update
November 1, 2019
Business Items
Morning Arrival and Breakfast
Breakfast will not be served after 7:45 a.m. and can't be taken up to the classrooms, so if your students haven't arrived at school before then, they will not be able to eat. Doors open at 7:15 a.m., so there is plenty of time. Please plan your mornings accordingly.
Winter Weather Dress Code
Beginning November 1, winter dress code is in effect and no one should be wearing shorts to school any longer, for daily wear or for gym. Gym sweatpants are available for purchase at Besse Shirt Lettering in Lansing, or call the school to inquire about the availability of sizes in the used uniforms. Also, please be sure that your children are dressed appropriately for the weather of the day--coats, hats, and gloves will soon be necessary most days. If your child wears boots to school, be sure to send along uniform shoes to change into.
Parking Restrictions
The small lot behind the Parish Office (where Ext. Day drops off and picks up) is restricted to employee use ONLY on weekdays during business hours. Parents coming in to drop something off at the school office, volunteer for a party, lunch, etc., should not park there even if there is an empty spot, as the assigned party may come in at any time. Likewise, the three spots on the Chicago Avenue corner are designated for quick drop-offs or picking up a sick child. Anyone who plans to be in the school for longer than 15 minutes should park in the lot between the school and the church. Thank you!
Are Your Students Missing Any Sacraments?
THE WEEK AHEAD!
Choir/ Guitar
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2,
10:30 a.m. in EXTENDED DAY
Don't forget to bring your guitar for the FREE lesson that takes place during the second half hour, and if it's your first time in attendance, be sure to bring in your registration form, which can be printed here. Please drop off your singers at the Extended Day door (C3). Our choir will be participating in Family Mass on Sunday.
Daylight Savings Time Ends
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 3,

Don't forget to turn back your clocks before bed on Saturday night!
Family Mass
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 3,
10:30 a.m.
All St. Ann students are requested to attend our monthly Family Mass. Those who attend IN UNIFORM and participate in the Mass--serving, reading, ushering, singing in the choir--will receive a NUT card for a future out of uniform day.
Thank you, thank you to everyone who donated candy to Trunk or Treat, and congratulations to Kindergarten on your huuuuuge win! HSA will be throwing you an ice cream party sometime soon. Pictures from Trunk or Treat can be seen on our school Facebook page.
Supper Club at Five Guys
Watch for your voucher to come home in the next Thursday envelope, or print one here. Spread the word by liking, sharing, and inviting your friends via the Facebook event.
Tell Your Friends About Shadow Day at St. Ann School!
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11
The public schools are off, but St. Ann is in session, so it’s a perfect day for your child to bring a friend to spend some time shadowing in their current grade to see what a day at SAS is like. If you know students who would be interested in exploring our school, please have their parents register them for Shadow Day here: http://bit.ly/ShadowDaySAS
Shadows should report to the main entrance on Chicago Avenue (door C1) at 7:30 a.m. Host students will bring their shadows back to the main entrance to be picked up by a parent when school ends at 2:50 p.m. Since our students are in uniforms, shadows should dress accordingly in a collared shirt and dress or khaki pants. Gym shoes are acceptable for shadows. They should also bring a sack lunch.
Be sure to fill out a New Student Referral Form for any friends who visit. You will receive a $500 tuition credit for every new family who enrolls by your referral!
Are You Sending in Your Stracks Receipts? Please ask others to save them for you too!
Collect Strack & VanTil Food Market register receipts dated between September 1, 2019 and March 2, 2020 to help St. Ann earn FREE educational rewards! Every classroom has a Collection Envelope, and we will be tallying the value of the receipts turned in. The class that brings in the most will win a prize! After our first tally, here's how we stand:
PreK: $2,442.34
Kindergarten: $468.56
1st Grade: $264.97
2nd Grade: $267.08
3rd Grade: $1,022.78
4th Grade: $517.73
5th Grade: $0
6th/7th Grade: $3,936.42
8th Grade: $379.24
Save the Date: Friday, November 22
We're still working on the details, but HSA will be holding its very first St. Ann Trivia Night! Put it on your calendars, and if you have an idea or would like to join the committee, please send an email to Janniew710@aol.com.
Pot of Gold Tickets
Win $500 in November! Your child should have brought home an envelope containing your Pot of Gold tickets a few weeks ago. You have already paid for these through your Fundraising Fee--we just need you to fill out the stubs and return them so you will be in the first Early Bird Drawing on November 24. If you want to try to resell them, you simply need to fill in the name of your purchaser (with your name on the back as seller). Your buyer will pay you, and you keep that money. Don't delay, or you'll miss a chance at $500 in the Early Bird!
Weekly School Masses
We attend Mass together as a school community every Wednesday morning in the Church at 9:00 a.m. Please join us any time!
