There is a lovely park at the end of the road which has beautiful costal and mountain views - there is also a kids play area & tennis courts as well as a cafe where you can enjoy a coffee or glass of wine and tapas whilst you relax, taking in the beautiful views (of Africa and Gibraltar on a clear day).
A 10 minute walk will take you into town and along the main stretch of the Ricardo Soriano Road you will come to the famous cobbled streets of the Plaza De Los Naranjos (Orange Square), where you can find the Tourist Office, boutiques, art galleries as well as great authentic tapas bars and restaurants. A perfect place to shop or just sit and relax over a coffee or iced drink!
From here you can cross the road into La Alameda Park (next to Marbella Cafe). You will pass the beautiful central fountain; walk through tropical trees and plants down to the Avenida del Mar. Here you will walk through an impressive collection of Salvador Dali sculptures, providing you with beautiful views of the sea and drawing you towards the promenade. Here you can walk, jog, cycle, or skate along the edge of the coast taking in the shops, bars, restaurants or sit and watch the world go by!!
The Marbella tourist train is a good way to get a glimpse of the streets around the town, you can jump on it just off the Promenade, or take a ride on a horse and carriage, these usually park up alongside Marbella Cafe.
You must take a stroll around the Marina in Puerto Banús, here you will see some very nice (large) boats and a plethora of eateries to suit most tastes. Puerto Banús also has a lively night life for anyone wishing to dance into the small hours!
If you are a shopaholic in Marbella and Puerto Banus you are spoilt for choice - stroll around the designer shops and boutiques. Take a trip around El Corté Inglés in Puerto Banus, the most famous department store in Spain, there is also a smaller version with a supermarket, close to the apartment which has a luxurious selection of foods and wine. Jump on the bus outside the block and visit La Cañada shopping centre (5 minutes drive). If you are looking for something cheap and cheerful, check out the Monday market in Marbella or take a trip round the Nueva Andalucia Market on a Saturday morning.
Drive along the coast a few KM and try some different beaches like the one in Puerto Banus or Cabopino, Funny Beach and Nikky Beach.
Andalucía has many attractions if you are happy to explore further afield for some adventure. Try the Aqua Park in Mijas, the Zoo in Fuengirola, the Crocodile Park in Torremolinos or perhaps a trip to Selwo Wildlife Park near Estepona or Tivoli Amusement Park in Benalmadena which has plenty of kids rides and live entertainment.
Places of interest and full of culture include Malaga City, Puerto Banús, San Pedro and of course the traditional white mountain villages of Ojen, Monda, Mijas and Istan. If you do not have your own transport, take the local bus which stops in front of the building or arrange an excursion, with pick up points in Marbella, you could go further afield to Seville, Ronda, Cordoba and even Gibraltar (don’t forget your passport) or Tarifa (great kite surfing).
There are a number of art galleries, museums and theatres in the area, as well as live dance, entertainment and music, particularly in the summer months. Check out the internet for what’s on or pick up leaflets from the Tourist Office.
