We must have courage no matter what the obstacle
The theme, we must have courage no matter what the obstacle, is shown throughout The Diary of Anne Frank. There were many times in the book where they show courage to stay strong. For example, Anne is having a night terror and Mr. Dussel gets mad so Mrs. Frank stands up for Anne (398). Miep is a great character that shows courage because she brings stuff to the Frank house knowing she could get arrested or even killed (all pages). Peter is also a great character that shows courage because he shows courage to Anne by taking his Star of David off (378).
It may not be easy but you must push through
The theme, it may not be easy but you must push through, is shown throughout The Diary of Anne Frank. There were many times in the book were they push through when it's hard. For exampe Mrs. Frank prays during an invasion (408). Another moment is when everyone forgives Mr. VanDan after the "food accident". During the night Mr. VanDan would sneak downstairs and eat the food that was supposed to go to the kids. Mrs. Frank thought the VanDans' should leave because he ate the food. A few days later Mrs. Frank and Mr. VanDan make up again and decide to let him stay (427). And lastly, in Anne's diary she is thrilled to think that her and her friends are coming back and how she will be back in school (429). Unfortunately, this never happens because Anne dies.
