Greetings CES Families,
We hope you are enjoying your summer break with your children. We are busy preparing to welcome back students on Wednesday, August 21. We have had a lot of improvements over the summer, including painting, new asphalt, new furniture and new carpeting (4 rooms) thanks to the Measure B funds!
Start times in 2019-2020. Please note - starting in 2019-2020, our 1st bell will ring at 8:10, and the tardy bell will ring at 8:15. We will dismiss TK at 12:30, K at 2:30 (1:25 on Mondays) and the rest of the students at 2:35 (1:30 on Mondays). We will have supervision starting at 7:45 each morning. We appreciate all of our families refraining from dropping their child off before 7:45.
2019-2020 teacher assignments. All of our teachers have already been in their classrooms getting prepared - I appreciate our dedicated staff! We will be posting our K and 2nd grade class lists on August 20 in the pm.

All Day Kindergarten 2019-2020. We are excited to pilot an all day kindergarten program this school year. School will start at 8:10, and students will be dismissed at 2:30 (through the front side gate by the K playground) for K students (TK students' day will be from 8:10-12:25). We offered all day K at my previous schools and experienced an academic and social development advantage for students when compared to half day programs. Parents and students can meet Ms. Twitchell and Ms. Klimek the day before school and get a quick tour on Tuesday, April 20 at 3:00 pm in room 2 (Ms. Twitchell) and room 3 (Ms. Klimek).

Monday Assemblies/Meetings - we have made some revisions for 2019-2020 with our weekly Monday Morning Meetings. Instead, we will be meeting with all students in the gym every other Monday afternoon before our early release. This will allow the other Mondays for teachers to provide a variety of character lessons and also give classes a monthly opportunity to meet with other classes for a reading or other learning activity (cross age collaboration opportunities). We are excited for these revisions. A big thanks to Ms. Crowther for her summer work and planning to build an engaging and worthwhile 2019-2020 Monday afternoon schedule!
In closing, we look forward to welcoming all of our students back on Wednesday, August 21 at 8:10 am.
