4th Grade News
The first session of the ISTEP test begins February 29. This is the Applied Skills portion
where students are required to respond to a writing prompt, read several passages and
answer short answer questions using text evidence, and put their mathematic skills to work solving and explaining their answers to word problems. We have been working hard and are ready to “show what we know!” The testing window runs from February 29-March 11. Our testing schedule has not been released yet. When it is released, I will let you know the exact dates we are testing. I know it will be short notice, but if possible, please try to limit appointments on the days we are testing. Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest the night before, and has a good breakfast before school.
Wanted: Peppermint candies and peppermint gum
Believe it or not, peppermint has been shown to improve concentration!
Regardless of whether our concentration improves, students will be excited to chew gum in school and eat candy while testing (perhaps at the very least it will make testing more exciting).
If you would like to donate peppermint candies or gum for our class to use during ISTEP, please send your donation to school with your child by the end of February.
