Meet the Blobfish: 'The ugliest animal in the world'

The Blobfish, is a squishy and endangered deep sea creature that floats in the waters off the coast of Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand. The Blobfish lives so deep within the ocean that its flesh is like jelly because the water pressure is over 30 times higher than at sea level.

This is why this fish is almost muscle-less. It has to be to survive at that depth. The Blobfish doesn’t really have a skeleton, and it doesn’t really have any muscle. It just kind of floats just above the ocean floor hoping food just happens to wander near its mouth. Researchers are predicting that this fish could become endangered soon as it keeps getting caught and dying in fishing nets.

Blobfish Named World's Ugliest Animal

Does the Blobfish really deserve its title?

To be honest – crowning the Blobfish "the world's ugliest animal" may be wrong…after all, chances are that if we were to dive down to 1200 feet under the sea, we probably wouldn't look so great either while the Blobfish would probably look Like a fish!
