The Principal's Post
Vol. 3, Issue 1 - August 2020
PGE- Preparation, Goodwill, & Excellence
The Principal’s Post runs once a month with weekly updates included in the grade level newsletters. Below are the newest dates, resources, and happenings.
General Informaiton
Parents and guardians,
We are excited for school to begin and are eager to see our students & families! As we move closer to the start of school updates are evolving rapidly and sharing information can be difficult to keep current. This month's newsletter has been updated to have links to sites that are updated regularly as well as "static" information that we feel are not likely to change and may help you as you plan.
GENERAL
- School will begin on August 26th. The first three days of school (August 26th, 27th & 28th) will be half days with dismissal at 11:55.
Keller ISD’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved a revised 2020-21 instructional calendar at its August 17 Special Meeting that adds 15 minutes to the school day to accommodate for instructional time lost due to delaying the start of school to August 26. In order to maintain consistency with the original 2020-21 calendar, it was decided that adding 15 minutes to the end of each school day will make up for the lost instructional time while having no impact on previously announced District Holidays and Breaks.

Please see our new "Strong Start" parent support website with detailed information about arrival, dismissal, face coverings, and much more!
Below are a few items from the Smart Start website:
Preventing COVID-19 From Entering Schools
Daily Screenings
Each student and every employee, before coming to school, will be expected to complete an online self-screening to determine whether he or she is exhibiting any symptoms or otherwise should be concerned about bringing COVID-19 into the school environment.Education
Signage will be placed around the campus to remind families and employees to complete these screenings, and communications will be provided to families to remind them to keep students home when sick and to maintain good hand hygiene.
Mitigating COVID-19 Transmission
Face Coverings Required
Students up to first grade will be required to wear face masks while they are on the bus, in hallways, in common areas like restrooms, while entering and exiting the building, and when requested to do so by an adult when very close is necessary. Students in second grade and up, along with all employees, will be required to wear a face mask throughout the day, including in class and on the playground. Campus administrators will work with the families of those students who do not adhere to the face mask requirement. Those students who consistently refuse to wear a face mask may be transferred to Remote Instruction.Physical Distancing
Whenever possible, students and employees should maintain at least six feet of distance from others. Desks in classrooms will be spread out as much as possible, and where distancing is not possible, plexiglass or other barriers may be erected.
