2022-2023 Registration
Please call to schedule an appointment to register for the 2022-2023 school year. In order to plan for next year, it is important that we get students registered as soon as possible. This is for incoming Pre-K, Kindergarten, or other students new to TES. Students currently in Pre-K are already enrolled and there is nothing further parents need to do.
TCPS Out of Area Link
The OOA application process for school year 2022-2023 opened on April 1, 2022. If a parent is interested in out-of-area for next school year, they must fill out the online application form.

Test Taking Tips for Parents & Students
Preparing a student for testing – For Parents
1. Make sure your child gets an ample amount of sleep the night before the test.
2. Mark testing days on your calendar to help remind you and your child when the testing will take place and plan your preparations.
3. The student should eat a nutritious and filling breakfast. Avoid high sugar cereals and breakfast treats.
4. Set aside time each night prior to the test for several weeks to review the concepts that will be covered. (Work with teachers to know what concepts to review at home in preparation for the test.)
5. Make sure your student is on time (if not early) on the days of testing.
6. Set a backup alarm to avoid the possibility of oversleeping.
7. If your child is sick, please contact the school immediately to inform us.
Working with students who are anxious about testing – For Parents
1. Try not to put too much pressure on your student. Reinforce that as long as he/she works hard in preparation and does his/her absolute best, you will be proud of your student.
2. Have your child visualize success. Encourage him/her to rehearse what it will feel like to get a good score on the test.
3. Work with your student to focus on breathing. Stress is often caused by insufficient oxygen to the brain. Remind him/her to take time before the test begins to take a number of deep, cleansing breaths, exhaling slowly. (Focusing on breathing when stress levels rise helps to focus the mind and decrease stress.)
4. Encourage your child to review the night before the test, but avoid cramming. Cramming is rarely, if ever, effective. A longer, more systematic schedule of short reviews will better prepare your student.
5. Keep a positive attitude about testing around your child and emphasize
his/her ability to demonstrate what he/she has learned.

TES Highlights
Social Emotional Learning at TES- Week of May 9th- Review
Dear Families,
This week our school community will be focusing on a review of the 24 character strengths and the Other People Mindset.
Over the course of this year, we have gained an understanding and appreciation of the 24 character strengths that are in all of us. Every 1-2 weeks we learned about a different character strength or Other People Mindset element. This knowledge has helped us build strong relationships with other people and become our best selves. People who have strong positive relationships do five things consistently - these are the five practices of the Other People Mindset. 1. Recognize the good in other people, 2. Recognize that everything you say or do affects other people, 3. Support others when they struggle, 4. Cheer people on when they succeed, 5. Remain present when giving people your attention. People who have a strong Other People Mindset are able to build and maintain strong, positive relationships with others.
This year, by deliberately and consistently teaching students that relationships are important — and that positive relationships are cultivated through character and the Other People Mindset — our school community has experienced firsthand how positive relationships help us become happier, healthier, and more resilient.
Have a wonderful week!
