Sioux County Office Hours
Office hours will tend to be Tuesdays-Thursdays 1 to 4 pm unless otherwise stated in the newsletter. Remind messages along with Facebook posts will be sent if the office is closed on a regularly scheduled day. Sioux County Fun Feed
The Sioux County Fun Feed will be held on Sunday, October 22nd at the Harrison Fire Hall. Games will start at 3:30 pm with the program starting at 4 pm. Please bring a side dish or dessert. The 4-H Council will be providing drinks, tableware, and meat for the meal.
The first week of October is set aside as National 4-H Week. From October 1-7, plant to celebrate National 4-H Week!
Ideas could include wearing 4-H attire to school, decorating a store window, putting up flyers to promote 4-H, taking baked goods to a neighbor or sponsor, visiting the nursing home or sharing time with someone, sending a thank you, create a social media "shoutout" to a 4-H member, display posters in store fronts, stepping up to help a person in need and more. There are many things you can do to show your leadership skills and promote the value of 4-H.
Volunteer Spotlight Sunday
Create a volunteer thank you note or spotlight a volunteer on Facebook.
Make It Monday
Pick up a Homemade Laffy Taffy project kit at the office or utilize the recipe below.
Tips Tuesday
Share your project tips! What is something you have learned with a project that was helpful!
Wear It Wednesday
Wear a 4-H shirt or green for the day
Thank you Thursday
Write a thank you note to a club leader, sponsor or volunteer
Favorite Fair Moment Friday
Share on our Facebook page or group your favorite fair moment!
Supporter Saturday
4-H would not be possible without supporters! How have you supported 4-H? Who is a Sioux County 4-H supporter you are thankful for?
National 4-H Week - Homemade Laffy Taffy Kit
Participate in Make it Monday by picking up the 4-H Week Homemade Taffy project kit sometime in October. Kits are sponsored by the Sioux County 4-H Council but are limited. You can start picking them up on October 2nd. Already have the ingredients? You can access the recipe below to start making your taffy today!
Fair Premiums
The fair premiums, provided by the Sioux County Ag Society will be available to pick up starting next week at the office. Premiums that have not been picked up will be taken to the Fun Feed on October 22nd. Premiums are for anyone in 4-H ages 5 -18 who exhibited projects at the Sioux County Fair.
October Monthly Workshop - Busy Book
Did you attend the Babysitting Basics workshop this year? Maybe you want to expand the items for your Babysitting Kit. Come join us on October 12th from 4 to 6 pm at the Extension Office to create your very own Busy Book. The fee for this workshop is $5. Please register by October 9th by emailing Melissa at mmracek2@unl.edu.
4-H Enrollment
The current 4-H fiscal year will end on September 30, 2023 and the new 4-H Enrollment for the 2023-2024 4-H year will open on October 16, 2023.
Please make sure to keep this on your radar and get enrolled in 4-H for the new year starting in October! Deadline for 4-H Enrollment will be June 15, 2024.
First Lego League Robotics is starting!!
Jaime Turbiville is planning to start a First Lego League robotics team afterschool. This group would be for youth ages 9 and up. Please reach out to Jaime Turbiville if you are interested in participating in the Masterpiece season!!
