Thoughts from Hernández
Guys, we are in mid-October!! I'm having a hard time processing that...mid-October. I mean we're going to be running/hiding from clowns in about a week and then dreaming about turkey and stuffing a week after that. It. Blows. My. Mind. I have to say though; this is my favorite time of year!!!! I. Love. It. I love all of these holidays: Halloween, Día de los Muertos, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and of course New Year's. This time of year seems to speed by though. So, hang on tight, my friends...it's about to go real fast...but don't forget to stop and enjoy it. This is a fun time!

Lead4ward Strategies
I hope that you will use some of the strategies I modeled at our staff meeting on Thursday. We have to be engaging with our students...I mean we are literally putting on a show daily for these kids. Here's the link that I showed you yesterday that lists all of the strategies: http://lead4ward.com/docs/instructional_strategies/Instructional_Strategies_Playlists_FINAL.pdf
Happy Birthday to...

Student Birthdays and Cupcakes and Stuff
So...there's a law that says we have to allow parents the opportunity to celebrate their child's birthday at school. I don't agree with this law and don't understand the educational value behind this, but it is what it is and we have to abide by it whether we like it or not. However, we can put some policies and structure in place, so here are the policies for parents wanting to celebrate birthdays...they can only bring store-bought goodies (cupcakes, cookies, brownies, etc.); they are to leave them in the office and we will bring them to you later; you may pass the goodies out at the END of the day, not at lunch.
Data Meetings
Data meetings went extremely well today! I was so excited to meet with you and loved the conversations we had about meeting students' needs! I was more of an active listener in most meetings than the facilitator because you were on top of things and had your data together and knew what needed to be done. Nicely done! This is a test to see who really reads this because this website does tell me who opens it and who doesn't...so if you are reading this, you may wear jeans with any shirt on Wednesday...but don't tell your friends...Back to data...I enjoyed the meetings. Thanks for all of your hard work. You are all amazing and I'm proud of you.
