Micro-Preemie

A baby that is born before 26 weeks or that is born weighing less than one pound.

NICU

NICU stands for the neonatal intensive care unit. All premature babies must stay in the NICU until they are strong enough to go home.

A Neonatal Incubator

An apparatus that is used in a NICU and provides a perfect environment for a preemie. To insure a perfect environment the incubator may have a fan, heater, oxygen valve or a dehumidifier.
