School Photos Also This Friday
Please make sure your order forms are back in by Thursday - don't be late!
The Tech Hub
Kia Ora everyone.
This week in Tech we are beginning to look at coding! Mr Walker has brought the school a class set of Micro:Bits. These tiny processors were brought out by the BBC last year, and every year 7 student in the UK was issued one. I used these a bit last year while at Sacred Heart, and have decided to get started with them here at Puketapu.
Check out https://microbit.org/code/ and have a play online. You can code your micro:bit to talk to you, smile and play games.
Students have also been playing on sketchpad - https://sketch.io/sketchpad/ - this is great fun and you could spend hours playing on this designing and drawing. Again, I am so impressed by how quick the kids can pick it up.
Have a great week!
Nga mihi, Mrs Wigley.

All supporters are welcome. We look forward to seeing parents/ guardians/ grandparents/ friends and whanau dressed up in the whanau colours and supporting our students.

If any parents want to take on the Teachers and Students in a relay get a team of 4 together and we’ll see you at the pool!
Book Club
Book Club is a fun and convenient way of bringing popular titles and series from best-selling authors that we know kids love, and helps with bridging the ever-important class-to-home reading gap.
Research shows that the more children read, the better readers they become, and the better readers they become, the more they enjoy reading.
Issue 2 of Book Club is out now. Orders need to be back at school by Friday 5 April or you can order online using The Loop.

Measles
Your child may have measles if they have not been vaccinated and have:
- A fever of 38.5C AND
- A runny nose, sore red eyes or a cough
- A rash 3-5 days later which usually starts on the head and spreads down the body
If you think you or your child might have measles, you need to keep them home from school and away from public places and other people. Measles is highly contagious from before symptoms start until 5 days after the rash has appeared.
Please contact your doctor or Healthline on 0800 611116 for more advice and let your school or early childhood centre know that your child may have measles.
Vaccination is the best protection against measles. Children are routinely immunised with the MMR vaccine at age 15 months and 4 years. Children are considered ‘fully immunised’ against measles when they have two documented MMR vaccinations.
Please contact your doctor to make sure you and your family are protected. For more information about measles please visit: https://www.health.govt.nz/your-health/conditions-andtreatments/diseases-and-illnesses/measles

When you have a concern
There may be times when you have a query or concern about your child.
The Concerns Pathway is important to follow as you will generally be speaking to the person who has the most information and knowledge about your child and others in their environments.
We will do our best to work together for manageable solutions.
Please note that classroom teachers are busy and working hard to give your children quality learning time. Should you need to discuss an issue, please make a time to meet, either before 8.30am or after 3pm, so they can give you the attention you need and deserve.
Lost Property
Please come and check for things that belong to your whanau.
