AMCMS Principal's Office
What is going on in the Principal's Office?
My Challenge to You
Take three minutes and watch the above video. What did you hear?
Why am I sharing this video? It links back to one of my five non-negotiables for the school year:
Work in Highly Functioning and Effective Teams. The only way this occurs is to collaborate with your peers. You should be collaborating with your departmental peers on the teaching and learning within your grade level. Please make sure that you are doing your part and working together. What do I mean by working together?
- Contribute to the conversation. Make suggestions, You have something to offer!
- Share what you are doing in your classroom. Share your success and your failures so that others may learn from you.
- Be willing to listen. Part of collaborating is listening to what others have to say. Turn your phone face down, set your pen/pencil down, and listen to what they have to say when they are sharing. After all, you would want the same... wouldn't you?
- Be open to suggestions. Part of collaborating is taking what others have commented, said, or suggested, and incorporating that information into your work.
Remember, Teamwork Makes the Dreamwork and no one can do this work alone. The best part is that you don't have to. In fact, you are expected to collaborate!
When I interview teachers I will occasionally have applicants that are coming from smaller schools and smaller school districts. Without fail each one of them will answer this question with something like:
Question: We work in grade level and department teams here at AMCMS. What role do you see yourself playing on your (Insert Content Area Here) team?
Answer: Well, currently I am the only (Insert Content Area Here) in my school so I do not have anyone that I can really work with in my content area. Really, I cannot wait to have other (Insert Content Area Here) teachers to be able to plan with, collaborate, and discuss teaching with.
You work in an environment that is rich with collaboration possibilities. Don't waste it. There are so many educators that would love to be able to collaborate to develop their teaching. Are you taking advantage of your opportunities?
Think. Achieve. Succeed.
Jeff

Tech Tip of the Week
Do your students ever lose their notes? Do you want them to be able to access them from your website. The video below is a quick reminder on how to add Google Docs or Word Documents to your website.
Academic Tip of the Week
Are you looking for ways to differentiate for the needs of you students?
Try This:
Use technological tools or software to allow students to access the content in multiple ways. You can integrate different technology into small group activities or station rotations. Short videos can help students review content at their own pace. You can create the videos yourself or have students create them for you!
If you need tips or ideas as to video creation tools, see Stephen Alexander.
SPED Tip of the Week
Incorporating choice for Differentiation!
Have you heard of gamification? Gamification is a great way to motivate and engage students in thear learning.
