Released STAAR

The next two weeks we will be taking the released STAAR

Homework

We will be continue emphasizing the importance of our Homework policy. The homework requirements are as follows:

  • Students must login to Education Galaxy through Classlink during our after school hours
  • anytime from 4:15 p.m. - 11:59 p.m. daily Monday through Thursday each week.
  • Students are required 30 minutes of Math (Algebra for students taking Algebra) time daily and 30 minutes of Reading time daily on Education Galaxy.
  • Students not completing the homework time on Education Galaxy will be assigned mandatory Saturday School, so it is important for your child to complete their homework assignments

Education Galaxy is a program designed to help close the gaps in the student’s grade level TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) to help them be successful in class and needed to pass STAAR.

Change in Mode of Learning

We recognize that changing circumstances may result in a need to modify your child’s mode of learning. We want to ensure that every student is able to attend school in their chosen learning environment.

Thus, you may request to change your child’s mode of learning by clicking the link below. These changes require quite a bit of planning and scheduling, you must meet firm deadlines to request a change in your child’s mode of learning. Our last deadline for changing your child's mode of learning was December 10th, with the effective date of that change being January 4th. The timeline is explained in the link below and includes the calendar with deadlines.

Assignments, Grades and Attendance

Remote Instruction from Home:

It is very important that your child logs into Schoology each day at the scheduled class period and complete his/her assignments. Logging in and working on assignments each day counts as being present for attendance purposes. If your child does not log in and make progress, he/she will be counted absent.

Parents Checking Grades

It is important for parents to know that the grades in ParentPortal are official grades. Schoology grades are not official grades and could differ from grades in ParentPortal. So parent, it is important that you are checking your child's grades in ParentPortal.

Completion of Assignments

If a student does not complete an assignment, it is recorded in Gradebook as an M, for missing. This assignment will be averaged as a zero until the assignment is completed. This will affect your child's grade. If your child is struggling, please contact your child's teacher by phone, email and/or through Schoology.

Dress Code

It is important for your child to be in dress code and wear an ID each day. Being in Standard Attire and wearing an ID, will be made a priority the second semester. The parent or Guardian of any student that is out of dress code will be contacted by an administrator to correct the dress code/ID violation. Please remember that hoodies are not allowed.

Devices

As a reminder, every student will need a device, whether they are F2F or remote learning from home. Students will be using Chromebooks to complete all assignments. If a student is F2F, devices will be brought to and from school each day. It will be the responsibility of the student to keep up with and take care of these devices.

If your child does not have a device, and is working remotely from home, please contact the school at 432-456-0479 to make arrangements to pick one up.

Safety in Classrooms

  • Student desks are positioned 6 feet apart.

  • Students are required to wear face covering in the classroom, while transitioning and at anytime during the school day.

  • Teachers are required to wear masks (And shields when around students) and socially distance as much as possible from students.

  • Students are to wash hands frequently throughout the day and before lunch
