5th Grade News!

March 14, 2016

Hello!

Well, March sure is flying by! The end of the 3rd grading period is upon us already! We've had a great couple of weeks. What wonderful weather we had when we walked to Dominion last week for a wonderful musical! The drama dept. at DMS never disappoints!

I am excited for our trip to Biztown tomorrow. It seems like our string of field trips will be over for a few weeks...we've been busy!!

The candy bar sale will be over next week, fyi. Health forms for camp will be coming home in the next couple of days, so watch out for them in your child's binder.

Have a Happy St. Patrick's Day on Thursday!! And... enjoy the beginning of March Madness!!! :)

Reading News

We have been reviewing figurative language this past week and took a look at the AIR assessment practice test to see how questions are asked on it and get a feel for the test layout. We will be taking the AIR Reading test after Spring Break, exact date is to be determined. I want the kids to be very comfortable with the test format, including the essay part, so we will spend a few days the next couple of weeks doing that. We are also still reading in our book clubs. Please ask your child to tell you about the book he/she is reading! :)
