Message to Parents from Superintendent, Dr. Jeanette Ball
Dear Judson ISD Families,
Judson Early College Academy is Honored with 2020 College Success Award
We are extremely proud to announce that Judson Early College Academy (JECA) has received GreatSchools.org’s 2020 College Success Award! The College Success Award recognizes and celebrates high schools that demonstrate excellence in ensuring students are prepared to succeed in college and, ultimately, careers. This is the second year in a row that JECA has earned this award!
JECA is one of 2,158 schools in 29 states across the country to be honored with the Award, which is based on data indicating how the school prepares students to succeed after high school, including whether they enroll in college, are ready for college-level coursework when they get there, and persist into their second year. See the list of schools that won in our state and learn more at https://www.greatschools.org/gk/csa-winners/.
We applaud Dr. Juarez's leadership and the JECA staff, students, and families for all of their hard work!

Beep N' Treat
Get ready for a spectacular night! Join Judson ISD for the best character parade in town on Tuesday, October 27th, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Rutledge Stadium. This is a fantastic alternative to door-to-door trick-or-treating. Put on your costume, pull up in your car, and let the Judson ISD employees fill your bag with treats!
This event is FREE and open to the public. Don’t miss the fun! All participants must come in a vehicle; no walk-ups will be permitted. We encourage visitors to dress up and decorate their vehicles. Participants must enter the parking lot at the Judson HS marquee off Schaefer lane. They will then be directed around the complex. A map and directions will be posted the week of the event.
COVID – 19 Note: This event will be held outside. Please remain in your car at all times. Plan to attend this event with members of your household. FREE to the public.

Curbside Meal Service Changes
Judson ISD recently made changes to its curbside meal service to accommodate the growing number of students returning to our physical campuses. The District still has four locations where no cost curbside meals are available to students for pickup. As a result, today, October 23, 2020, will be the last day for daily curbside distribution of meals at all our campuses. Starting October 26th, meals will be served at our campuses in either the school cafeteria or classrooms.
JISD will continue to serve curbside meals at the following locations from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm Monday through Friday:
- Judson High School
- Wagner High School
- Spring Meadows Elementary
- Rolling Meadows Elementary
If this change produces a hardship for your family, please contact your campus and/or JISD Child Nutrition to inquire about alternative arrangements. This change aims to best utilize the resources available so the district can better address the shifting student needs developing at our schools. Our intent is that no student goes hungry, regardless if they are enrolled in virtual instruction or in-person.
Unity Day
On October 21st, campuses over our district wore orange to show that we are together against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. At JISD, we strive to have a bully-free district every day.
Below are some photos of our schools celebrating Unity Day. “Stand United Against Bullying!”

Charles Butt Aspiring Teachers Scholarship is Now Open!
Do you know someone who would make a great teacher?
The Charles Butt Scholarship supports extraordinary students to enter the teaching profession. Charles Butt Scholarship recipients are passionate aspiring educators looking to make a difference for public school students.
We are looking for applicants who believe in the importance of public education, are leaders in their communities, and reflect the diversity of the state of Texas.
The Scholarship includes $8,000-$10,000 in annual funding for up to four years, professional development opportunities, mentorship, and participation in a statewide aspiring teachers network.
This year, approximately 100 scholarships will be awarded through teacher preparation programs at 10 partner universities. To be eligible, applicants must be committed to teaching in a majority-economically disadvantaged school or in a shortage subject area in a Texas public school.
Please share this one-of-a-kind scholarship opportunity with anyone who might be interested!
Free/Reduced Lunch Applications: It Still Matters
The Judson ISD Child Nutrition Department wants you to know that even though all meals are no cost to students through the end of 2020, the Free/Reduced Price Meal applications are still critical…to you and your student because it’s about more than just food.
Did you know that this application also...
- Can provide discounted fees to register for AP tests (from $64 to $18)
- Help pay fees to participate in sports
- Can reduce costs of college applications (discounted or even no cost)
- Help you qualify for low-cost internet service
- Has a bearing on funding for school programs and services for students
The no-cost meal program will, at some point, end, and we want to make sure that your child gets a nutritious meal without financial roadblocks. See if you qualify. Or, you can get going by filling out the Free/Reduced Meal application now.
These applications are accepted all year, but the earlier you apply, the sooner you can benefit from meals and discounts.
*Note: If your child attends a CEP (Community Eligibility Provision) designated school, you do not need to submit this application.
