What Is Down Syndrome?
A genetic disease caused by a extra chromosome #21. 25% of families are affected by Down's syndrome in the U.S
Characteristics
There are many different characteristics to Down Syndrome. Some symptoms to having this genetic disease are heart defects, learning difficulties, weak muscles, and etc. Daily life is a whole lot harder than we think, people have Down syndrome have trouble walking, communicating, learning, and so much more. The life expectancy for people with Down Syndrome is around ages 50-60. There are so many more characteristics I could list.
Causes
Down Syndrome is cause by a extra chromosome as you can see. There's supposed to be only two chromosomes in #21 but there's three
Treatments
Unfortunately there is no cure to Down Syndrome. Some treatments physical therapy to help body walk, heart surgery early in life, and speech therapy.
