DEADLINE EXTENDED - GCPS Perception Surveys: Opportunity to Review Student Survey
Each year, to help improve our schools, Gwinnett County Public Schools collects feedback from our families, students, and staff members about their school experience. This year, the school district is giving Educational Effectiveness Surveys (EES) to get feedback on nine characteristics of high-performing schools.
Here are key dates and important information regarding the survey process for our families, students, and staff:
- March 14-April 4: Family Survey is open. (GCPS will send you a SchoolMessenger link to the survey on March 14. The survey—available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese—also will be available in the Parent Portal.) Brookwood Elementary student wins GAGE Summer Scholarship
The Gwinnett Alliance for Gifted Education selected fourth grader Veer Bharucha as a recipient of a summer scholarship. Elementary schools across Gwinnett got to enter only two student essays for consideration. Veer is only one of two elementary school students in Gwinnett County selected to receive the scholarship, which is to be used toward a summer class or classes to explore his giftedness.
GAGE selected Veer after reading his 300-word essay in response to the question, "What does giftedness mean to you and what are things that might hide it at times?" In his essay, Veer wrote giftedness "...means to never stop learning and being curious about everything around me." He also wrote that his giftedness allows him to "help others when they're in need" and is "a great way to learn for oneself." Veer went on to write that nervousness, lack of confidence, and discouragement from others can hide a person's giftedness.
Veer and his family were invited to attend an awards ceremony where he and other GAGE award recipients will be recognized. A portion of Veer's essay will be read, and he will be presented his scholarship.
