Scarlet News and Notes

Assuring learning excellence and readiness for a changing world
This is going to be a great year!
And we're off! Welcome to the first week of the 2018-19 school year. I am so excited to welcome our students! Thank you for your engagement and collaboration last week. The amazing positive energy your brought will carry us through this year.
I would like to include a few new things in News and Notes this year. One, I will include our home events. Our kids love to see their teachers supporting them at events, and remember, your badge will get you in free. It is also a great time to connect with other staff in a different environment. Hope to see you at events!
Also, I would like to include staff birthdays in our weekly News and Notes. It is good to find reasons to celebrate. If you do not want your birthday posted, please let me know, and we will respect your birthday privacy.
As always, if you have something you want shared with the staff, please let me know and I will put it in News and Notes!

Engagement and Collaboration
This is the week to develop those positive relationships with all students, making them feel valued and a sense of belonging. Be sure to take time in the beginning to build a culture of trust and a growth mindset, it will save you time down the road.
If you have a student you are concerned about, remember we have incredible support people! Our counselors, school social worker, and school psychologist are all here to help support kids, as are our admin team. Brian Hansen will focus on students in grades 9 and 11 this year, and Mike Elston will focus on students in grades 10 and 12.
