Well, our week was not just great. So many sick kiddos absent, kids going home sick, kids returning from being sick and not feeling very perky. I tried to take it easier than usual and not push them too much. I sure hope we can all come back to school on Monday and start fresh and healthy. It breaks my heart! Poor babies.
The kids may have told you but we had several rounds of teachers from different grade levels and facilitators from the LISD administration building coming and doing walk throughs in our class. It is always fun to get to show off these great kids. I am so proud of them, their behavior, their thinking and learning. Another HUGE compliment was from PE. He told the kids after class that they were the only 2nd grade class he has ever been able to use the "real" hockey sticks (not foam ones) and that they followed all the safety rules and were so responsible and mature. I am truly blessed with an amazing class! Thank you for sharing these precious children with me!
Have a great weekend! We are off to FMHS to hel finish building and painting sets for this weeks big debut of Bye Bye Birdie! Come see the show!

WHAT WE'VE BEEN LEARNING
LANGUAGE ARTS-We read several MLK reader's theater plays. The kids got to experiment a little with my puppet collection. We wrote an expository story about our favorite animals and practiced using an exciting opening, adding details and then a closing statement that sums up the whole piece. They were so good!
SOCIAL STUDIES-We did all things MLK. On Friday we watched a movie called Our Friend Martin. We had some great discussions on humanity and equality.
SCIENCE-We did more rock investigating. We learned how rocks and minerals are used in materials we have and use everyday.
