Mrs. Smith's Tuesday news

Week of Nov. 30-Dec. 4

International Week

This week each Kindergarten class has chosen a different country to learn about. Our class is studying Australia. We will learn about some of the amazing animals and land forms of our country. On Friday each class will "travel" to the other countries (classes) to learn a little about each country studied and try a sample of food from each.

A Night of Milk and Cookies!

Make plans now to attend our Family Involvement Night next Tuesday the 8th from 5:30-6:30 p.m. It will be in conjunction with the book fair which is going on all week. Teachers around the building will be reading Christmas stories and there will be milk and cookies available in the cafeteria.

Holiday Lunches

Next Wednesday, the 9th, Kindergarten will be having our annual Holiday Lunch in the Cafeteria. Our class will be eating at 11:50 on Wednesday. That is a CHANGE to our normal lunch time. Please come join us if you can. The cost is $4 for adults and $2.50 for kids.

Suggestions for help at home

You may have noticed that we have officially finished all 50 sight words. For those friends that need to practice sight words, one really great activity to do with your child is to have them practice writing the words. Every day at my Guided Reading table, I give each student a marker and board to write on. (Paper and pencil works great too.) I tell them that I am going to say a sight word and I want them to “Write it Fast!” I say 3 words a day. It only takes 1-2 minutes a day, but it makes a huge difference.
