Principal's Message

Dear Golden Bear Parents, Guardians, Families and Students,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year at Hollow Hills Fundamental School! I am honored to be joining the Hollow Hills community as your new principal. Hollow Hills has a long standing tradition of excellence marked by high academic achievement, quality programs and parental support. We, our amazing teachers, staff and I, are committed to creating a supportive, caring and fun learning environment where all students will learn at high levels, acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary for each student to achieve their personal best. It is this commitment, and partnerships with parents and the community, that has helped Hollow Hills become recognized both nationally and statewide. Although I am new to the Golden Bear family, this commitment to excellence for every student is engrained in the fabric of Hollow Hills. It is a priveldge to work alongside the teachers, staff, parents and community to continue this important work.

We truly are "Better Together". It is the partnerships between all stakeholders that makes Hollow Hills a truly special school. There are many opportunities to become involved at Hollow Hills: as a classroom representative, PTA board/committee member or parent volunteer for special projects. Please consider volunteering in any capacity you can. Education of our children is a team endeavor and parents/guardians are key members on this team. Your ongoing commitment and dedication to our students reflects the Hollow Hills philosophy, it truly is "The Golden Bear Way".

It is a great day to be a Golden Bear!

Heather Godfrey

Principal, Hollow Hills Fundamental School

Aeries Parent Portal Data Confirmation

Simi Valley Unified will be utilizing Aeries as the student information system again this year. Through the Aeries program, parents/guardians can monitor academic progress, as well as health information, contact information and communications. It is required that all families complete the Data Confirmation process in the Aeries portal prior to the first day of school on August 10, 2022.

**Note: When updating contact information, it would be helpful to use a cell phone number as the primary number. This will allow you to receive text message communications sent by the school. Click here for more information on the Aeries Parent Portal Data Confirmation.

Child Nutrition - Lunch Program Updates/Information

Under the new California Universal Meals Program, school breakfast and lunch are now free for all students. However, Federal regulations still require school districts to collect household meal applications for some schools. Hollow Hills is one of those schools. Families who received a letter from the District stating your children were directly certified (automatically qualified for free or reduced lunch do NOT need to apply. Those who did not receive a letter must complete an application. More resources, general information, FAQs and quick links can be found here: Child Nutrition Links.

Attendance

Good attendance is vital to student success!!

**Please call the attendance line if your child is absent to avoid truancy: (805) 520-6720 and select option 1.

Parents have FIVE (5) days to clear a student’s absence(s). After 5 days, the Absence (A) will
