FCCLA Update written by Jayla Duncan, President

Childersburg High School’s FCCLA theme for the year is “Lights, Camera, LEADERSHIP.” This theme intends to highlight members and their outstanding achievements throughout the school year. This year's officers are leading the way for the club’s success.

These young ladies are determined to increase club membership, participate in community service projects each month, and help each member have successful Star Event projects. Vice president Marlesha Garrett says “ We have a full agenda this year for FCCLA. I’m excited to see all the things we accomplish this year.” The biggest community service project the club does each year is their Ribbons of Hope bake sale. Ribbons of Hope Foundation is a local nonprofit organization that provides monetary assistance to those struggling with cancer. During the month of October, CHS’s FCCLA collects donations and has a huge bake sale with pink-decorated treats that are sold at the annual CHS Pink Out football game. All profits from the fundraiser will go directly to the Ribbons of Hope Foundation. In the month of November, FCCLA will also host a "Thank You Breakfast" for support staff at Childersburg High School and Childersburg Middle School. Members will prepare and serve breakfast for assistants, bus drivers, CNP workers, secretaries, and maintenance personnel. In addition to that service project, CHS FCCLA also sponsors a senior citizen essential needs basket drive in November and December. The members collect items from the student body such as toiletries, crossword puzzles, snacks, cleaning supplies, and handwritten notes which are delivered to the Senior Center in Childersburg. This is a kind gesture to let the senior citizens know that they are loved and constantly thought about. The members of the CHS FCCLA are active and committed to making their school and community a better place!
