The 10th annual Southern Miss Comcast Golf Classic will feature the Eagle Dining/Aramark Challenge. Three division champions from the Classic will advance to the National Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada. Additionally, the champions of the Eagle Dining/Aramark Challenge will qualify for the National Championships.

The two-person scramble will take place at the championship Canebrake Country Club. The purpose of the golf classic is to bring the Division of Student Affairs, students, faculty/staff, alumni, and friends together for a common cause. Besides unifying the relationships between the Division of Student Affairs and students, faculty/staff, alumni, and friends, the Southern Miss Com cast Golf Classic seeks to provide support for leadership training and professional development in the Division of Student Affairs, as well as enhancing and financially supporting various scholarship opportunities across the university.

Few events have the opportunity to provide support to both the university at large and individual students. Prior to tee-time on October 13. 1012, each team shall designate which scholarship program will benefit from their play .

FORMAT:

Two-person scramble


Tournament winners will be determined by low gross scores. Deluxe prizes will be presented to first through fourth place winners in each of the divisions:

  • Student/Student
  • Faculty/Staff
  • Alumni/Community

Each division will have two flights:
  • The Championship-Las Vegas flight
  • The Joe Paul flight

Rules: For the student division, students must be currently enrolled in a college or university. For the faculty/staff division, faculty/staff must be currently employed at a college or university. Alumni or community can be a combination of college/university alumni or community members. Individuals who qualify for the student or faculty/staff division are not eligible for the alumni or community division.

Note:
High school golf team members are welcome to compete in the alumni/community division but are not eligible to win prizes or represent the division in the National Championships. College golf team members and professional golfers are not eligible to compete.

Cash prizes will be awarded to pre-designated scholarship programs in the Championship-Las Vegas flights and the Joe Paul flights of all three divisions.

  • 1st Place - $200
  • 2nd Place - $150
  • 3rd Place - $100
  • 4th Place - $75


TWO FLIGHTS PER DIVISIONS:

The Championship-Las Vegas flight in each division is comprised of golfers playing to advance to the national tournament and for their designated scholarship program. The Joe Paul flight is for golfers playing for their designated scholarship program. Winners of this division will not advance to the national tournament. First through fourth place winners in each of the three divisions (Student/Student, Faculty/Staff, Alumni/Community) will be announced immediately following the event. The top 50% scores based on gross scores comprise the Championship-Las Vegas flight of each division (to be determined immediately following play) .


EAGLE DINING/ARAMARK CHALLENGE:

Thanks to our friends from Eagle Dining/Aramark, three additional teams, one from each division (Student/Student, Faculty/Staff, and Alumni/Community), shall qualify for the National Championships. A mystery event, the Eagle Dining/Aramark Challenge, will be a highlight of the Southern Miss Comcast Golf Classic. Teams winning respective divisions within the Las Vegas flight are not eligible for the Eagle Dining/Aramark Challenge.


COST:

$125 per player (see patron opportunities). Includes cart, green fees, practice range balls, lunch and dinner, food coupons, prizes for closest to the hole, longest drive, chipping and putting contests (potential tax credit -$30).


NATIONAL SPONSOR COMMITMENT:

The Southern Miss Comcast Golf Classic will be supported by national sponsor Collegiate Golf Alliance/NIRSA whereby the winners of the three divisions (Student/Student, Faculty/Staff, and Alumni/Community) advance to the National Championships at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada. A portion of expenses will be provided to support the three division champions of the Championship-Las Vegas flight (tournament registration fees, two nights' lodging, and airfare credit).

Hole Patron - $250
  • Provides one player slot, hole sponsor, and name on program (potential tax credit - $155)


Games Patron - $350

  • Provides one player slot, game sponsor, hole sponsor, and name on program (potential tax credit - $255)


Awards Patron - $500

  • Provides one two-player slot (two players), hole sponsor, name on program and patron board signage (potential tax credit - $310)


Supporting Patron Package - $750

  • Provides two two-player slots (four players), hole sponsor, name on program, and patron board signage. (potential tax credit- $370)


Black-and-Gold Patron Package - $1,000

  • Provides three two-player slots (six players), hole sponsor, name on program, patron board signage (potential tax credit - $430)


Presentation Patron - $2,500

  • Provides three two-player slots (six players), hole sponsor, name on program, patron board signage, and name recognition in all promotions, including media. (potential tax credit - $1,930)
