December 2019
From the desk of Superintendent Kurre
At Tuesday night's meeting, the board voted to place a levy of .69 cents with a ten-year sunset on the April ballot. The updated ballot language is similar to the levy run in August with the addition of the sunset clause. (Full ballot language can be found on Tuesday night’s board agenda) .35 cents of the levy will go towards exterior building repairs, safety issues, high school renovations, and energy conservation issues brought to light by the building audit. The other .34 cents will provide funding for needed maintenance outlined in the district comprehensive maintenance plan which includes items such as HVAC, roofs, parking lots, etc. These maintenance items need to be spread out over time to allow the board to be responsible and budget a set amount year after year. The items in the plan will have to be done if the levy passes or not, however having new revenue to take care of these needs will ease the stress on the budget allowing for more funds to flow into other areas like attracting and keeping quality educators for our classrooms. Keep your ears open for more information.

"Mrs. DeLapp always does an amazing job with our K-5 programs! They are always a ton of fun for our students and well planned out. Our students are driven to not only sing and dance during these programs, but learn a ton of real world strategies such a sticking to procedures and remembering their own lines! You are second to none Mrs. DeLapp, we are lucky to have you at MC!"
"Joni Voss, music teacher, directed our 3-5 grade students in our winter program, Snow Biz. It was a wonderful performance! Mrs. Voss put in a lot of time and preparation for the program."
