LTEF donates $15,280 to BCE!
New Makerspace at BCE!
BCE is in the process of creating a “makerspace” center!! What is a makerspace? In simple terms, it is an area that allows for creativity and innovation to occur so that students can engage in learning experiences that allow them to make real life connections. For example, within this makerspace our students will have the freedom to design, engineer, fabricate, create, build and collaborate. Makerspaces provide students with a place to tinker and develop something that may not have been possible to create without a space with resources. We are so excited to bring this opportunity to our students!
The majority of needs for this space have been funded by PTO (3D printer! LEGO wall! Simple Machines! LEGO Mindstorms! Spheros! Magnatiles! Knex! and SO much more), but we are also in need of "donations" of consumable items that you may already have at home.
Here are some items that we could use:
Plastic fruit containers
Lids of any size
Oatmeal or coffee canisters
Small cardboard boxes
Rolls from wrapping paper
Cardboard tubes (paper towel, toilet paper rolls)
Bubble wrap
Baby wipe containers
Old CDs
Corks
Pringles cans
Small plastic tubs
Shoe boxes
Cereal boxes
Old craft supplies
Not sure? If you come across any other random craft or recycled item that could be turned into a robot, mechanical arm, parachute, or project along those lines, we can use it!
Items can be dropped off in room 301 or the Library. Thanks so much for supporting BCE students!!
Also, please join us in giving a huge thank you to Mrs. Heckler for championing this idea, putting a plan together, and now bringing it to fruition. Our children will all benefit from your efforts. Thank you!
STAAR Testing
A few testing day reminders:
- If your child is testing, please arrive on time and do not plan on taking him/her out early for appointments.
- Water bottles/lunches cannot be delivered to testing rooms. Students will grab them on their way to lunch.
- It is best for students to leave cell phones and smart watches at home or they will be collected during testing.
- Sending a sweatshirt and dressing in comfy clothes is best.
- A hug and an "I love you" goes a long way on these days. Our students are already rock stars. We believe in them and I know you do too. We will do our best to keep the environment on campus stress free.

Please complete the survey by May 30th. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete on any device with internet access. Thank you for taking the time. We value your feedback!

2018-19 Year in Review
The end of the year always comes faster than you can blink! As a PTO, just a few of the highlights of this fun year included:
witnessing our students complete over 3000 acts of kindness in the first year of Raise Craze
funding the new Makerspace at BCE
hosting the Josh Abbott Band
bringing Google Expeditions to our school
partying like it’s 1999 at A Night in Old Bee Cave
launching our brand new website
and raising a net amount over $120,000 to continue to enrich the education of BCE students
PLUS, continuing to offer enrichment programs, host community events, appreciate teachers, and fund tens of thousands of dollars of recurring annual expenses to support BCE students!
THANK YOU endlessly to all parents for supporting our school with your time and resources.
We truly have the best community here at Bee Cave Elementary!
Volunteer Opportunities for Next Year
Volunteering at BCE is the best way to get involved, meet new people, and directly impact your child's school experience. Check out all of our volunteer opportunities for next year (2019-20) and sign up for the areas that interest you. Thanks in advance for your support of BCE! It’s going to be another amazing year!
Thank You, Mandy Van Ackeren
Please join us in showing our appreciation to Mandy Van Ackeren, our dedicated Communications Chair! For the last several years, Mandy has run our social media sites on Facebook and Instagram, produced nearly all of the graphics, and built our brand new website last summer (with additional thanks to Colleen Brown!). In running our social media sites, Mandy gives her time to BCE every single day to keep families informed and ensure the success of our events and programs. We owe so much to your efforts and can not thank you enough, Mandy!
Staff Appreciation
It was an amazing week loving on our awesome teachers, and it would not have been possible without the efforts of our wonderful Staff Appreciation Committee! Thank you for not only treating our wonderful BCE staff this week and throughout the year, but also for helping us all to show the teachers how much we love and appreciate them! It's a big committee because they do so much!!
