Weekly Update - Week 17 - 2/9/16

Scripture for Meditation

“As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glori ed through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

1 Peter 4:10–11 (KJV)

The Moore Family - update

From Ruth " Please pray for Gideon. He is going in for his tube and nissan (for reflux) surgery Monday morning. Arrival time is 5:45. He can't eat 3 hrs before arrival so he will be frustrated before we even start. He will be in surgery an hour, or hour and a half later. Supposed to last no more than 2 hours. We are discouraged with this step but he is moving more despite loosing his ability to swallow. Please pray respiratory wise he will be ok as this is higher risk for neuromuscular disease patients. Please also pray he continues to stay healthy."

Prayer Request

Please keep Josh Aldrich's father in your prayers. He underwent a serious surgery which requires a lengthy recovery and comes with life threatening complications should he catch any illness. The matter is further complicated as he is a Pastor and needs to meet with people on a regular basis.

Standardized Testing

We are looking for someone willing to step up to coordinate the testing for our community. The position requires someone with a 4-year college degree. For more details, please talk to Lynn Humphreys.

At Classical Conversations Testing Services, we believe that standardized testing is an important part of preparing students for college entrance exams, whether your state mandates testing or not. We take a very pragmatic attitude towards testing: The test results are not as important as the skill of test-taking, though achievement tests do provide parents with reliable data for evaluating progress in language and math skills. Each year, we offer local, on-site testing for grades 3–12 through our communities. We are looking for a homeschool parent from this community to coordinate testing this year. • Julia Jensen, one of our Challenge A students is planning to travel to England and is fundraising for her trip. She has sets of notecards for sale. Please see her at lunch for details.

Parent Off Campus Policy

I want to remind everyone that a parent needs to be on campus with your children at all times. If a situation arises where you need to leave, another parent must be willing to act as guardian, I need to be informed and have a note in writing and signed by both parties. Please speak to me if you have any questions.

Help Needed for Morning Childcare

We could still use a regular second helper in the morning childcare. If you know of anyone who might be willing to help, please let Kristi Hart know.

I've set up an account at to start collecting photos for our yearbook and end of the year slide show. Go to this link and upload your photos from field trips, class or other events and activities. If anyone would like to take over the management of this, I would love to pass it along!
