New from the Principal
It has been another great week at CGE. This week each grade level met with Mrs. Faletti, our school social worker, and Principal Gram to talk about bullying and how we all can be a part of stopping this in our school. We want to make sure that all CGE students follow our school rules of Work, Respect and Belong. If we do our work, respect each other and property, we will all feel like we belong at CGE.
This Thursday is our ONE AND ONLY CGE fundraiser kick off. You will receive lots of information on Thursday regarding this fundraiser and the fun events that go along with it. We will have a school event on October 14 and an FUN family event at Oltman Middle School on October 15. It is going to be so much fun. Since this is our only fundraiser we hope that we can raise enough money to support our school, teachers and students.
Sincerely,
Candy Gram, Principal

MAP Testing Grades 2-5
All 2nd grade through 5th grade students will be taking the MAP Reading and Math assessment the weeks of Oct. 3 (reading) and Oct. 10 (math).
This assessment is used to determine your students’ growth in Reading and Math and is part of a balanced assessment system used in South Washington Schools. Here are some important ways we use MAP data:
To inform instruction during the current school year
To identify students to receive Advanced Learner Services,
To identify or exit students from reading and/or math intervention supports, and
To place students in the appropriate 6th grade math courses
If you would like to opt your student out of this test, parents/guardians must fill out this FORM by September 30 and submit it to the school.

Safety First
Safety is a top priority at CGE.
- This week we practiced our first lockdown drill. Students learned what to do in the event of an emergency at school.
- All volunteers at CGE need to apply online to create their profile and complete a background check. Here is the link with information regarding volunteering: SoWashCo Volunteer. Please fill out this information before volunteering in the classroom or on a field trip.
Limited Lunch Visitors
CGE will be able to host limited lunch time visitors between , October 1– May 26th this school year. Based on space and safety requirements, one family member listed in Parent Portal may sign up using our monthly Reservation Link to accompany their child at our guest lunch table. Our CGE Reservation Link will become live on September 16th for the month of October. We ask families to review the process below so that we can ensure this practice is available:
- Sign up for the visit no later than the day prior to your visit.
- Upon arrival for the visit, present identification and complete the Raptor screening.
- Wear the visitor badge so that it is visible during the entirety of the visit.
- Go directly to the lunchroom and eat in the guest space with your student.
- No friends or additional students will be permitted to join the guest space.
- Visitors may not visit recess time.
- The visit is limited to guest space during the student’s identified lunch period.
- Any outside food brought in can only be shared with your student.
- Do not take pictures, record, or film while at school. Use of cell phones is strongly discouraged for safety and privacy.
- You may sign up for one spot a month to allow for other families to sign up as well.
You will get a new link monthly to reserve your spot.
NOTE: We are going to start slow with this new procedure. The month of October has limited dates. PLEASE ONLY SIGN UP FOR ONE SLOT THIS FIRST MONTH. We anticipate increasing to more dates in November once we have one month behind us so we can work out any kinks we may encounter. Thank you for your patience.
PTO News
Fun Run
Our ONE AND ONLY CGE fundraiser will be the CGE Fun Run again this year. We are so excited to spice it up this school year. Plans are underway for our at school event on Friday, October 14 and a Community Event on October 15 at Oltman Middle School where we will have food trucks and a track set up for families to walk/run together. We will not be buying shirts for students this year but please know they can wear their shirt from last year or any CGE shirt or green, black or white.
Stay tuned for more information from PTO on THURSDAY, September 29. You will be getting emails and fliers sent home that day regrading this fundraiser and event. We have a goal of raising $30,000 for our school. PTO helps teachers and staff provide opportunities for our CGE students such as: field trips, supplies for classrooms, special requests for projects and MUCH more.
